What's the one tool you couldn't live without?

I'm starting this thread to maybe get some ideas for myself and others to add to their toolbox. Items that make everyday work a little easier.

I'm going to start off with something really obvious but essential. I use my Irwin snap blade multiple times throughout the day, it's really comfortable to use and I couldn't live without it :smiles:

One of my favourite tools I use a lot is my Stanley cubic self levelling laser level! It cuts my install time down massively on jobs such as wallpaper.

Definitely worth investing in! I’m a sucker for new toys! I’m lucky to have Signgeer based just down the road from me and it’s like a sign geeks toy heaven

Hi Mark, what do you use to mount the cube when working on trucks? Do you use a tripod or the like? been looking around at these for years but never actually bought one.

Yes I use an adjustable tripod! You can lock the self levelling function and use the level to mark angles etc! Signgeer sell a really nice kit including tripod etc

Yes the body knives are fantastic, ours get used almost daily.

I've just purchased two of the Stanley cubes  I've looked at similar in the past but always been put off by the price.

Re: What's the one tool you couldn't live without?

Pane - you beat me to it, my friend!!!! that's the two tools we use everyday.

This is by far my fav' knife ever. For year we used scalpels, then after trying a few different retractable blades, we found these - bloody perfect. Strong metal body (also allowing use of our workshop magnet racks), VERY sharp and great quality blades.

Has anyone purchased / used a green lasers??? I know there a lot more expensive, but have been told they work sooooo much better outdoors (we have a Stanley cube in tool box, but find it useless outdoors - indoors its great!)

Laser level, saves me the most time and so makes me more money when installing !

Interested to see olfas are coming up as favourite knives I've gone the other way. I had this conversation the other night with a fellow installer. I used to swear by them and don't get me wrong I still have a couple in the toolbox, but find they are no were near as sharp as a scalpel blade certainly not sharp enough when cutting optically clear window films.

Is that yellow masking tape Iain? What's it like?

Just about to buy a box of 36 of the IPG tape as I've found it good to use. Be open to trying something else though.

One thing I've started taking with me everywhere is a chamois cloth. Has come in really useful for a multitude of jobs.

Hi James, yes it’s a yellow Tesa tape. It’s not the cheapest but it’s brilliant. I alternate it with a 3M blue
