Print Head Joy, this worked a treat!

Just thought I’d post a good news event instead of my usual bellyaching.
My old pro 3 has been giving me s**t results
Ever since the temperature dropped drastically recently ( I must admit the weather change never crossed my mind)
After a few test print photo exchanges with the engineer, the diagnosis was 5 new heads. Being tighter than a gnats chuff, I got elbow deep into it today for the first time ever, played with the versacamms for years but as the pro machines arrived, was too scared to mess as they didn’t look familiar inside. Gave the heads a good clean, no good. Gave the caps a good clean, no better.
Wipers & scraper was next. Then ink lines from caps to pumps. 1 syringe later, best print results I’ve ever had from the old girl.
That’s saved me enough for a holiday.

Forgot to add, I did the unthinkable & powered a syringe full if flush through every head, worked a treat

Well done Kev, it's always a good feeling when you work it out yourself

Re: Printhead joy

Hi Kev,

This is interesting because my Pro 3 is a bit under par on print quality too at the moment, have done all of what you mentioned except change the lines. So you just renewed the ink lines from the capping stations to the pumps? I have considered changing the lines all the way back to the cartridges but that's really an engineer job!

Re: Print Head Joy, this worked a treat!

Hi Paul.
I never replaced anything except 2 wipers. I cleaned the lines with flush till clear (clear Tygon tube)
Cleaned the caps as I didn’t have any spares but the main thing was the firm push of flush through the head. Not something I’d recommend unless the machine is well & truly goosed or you have a backup printer. Mine was unusable to be fair so would need the heads anyway if it hadn’t worked. Just make sure the heads are capped, lines are clear, power cable out of the machine & plenty of rag to hand. Also, don’t be tempted to do anything except push, don’t pull any c**p back through the head. It really is printing better than its ever done over the last 3 years but I don’t know if that’s just blind luck. I’ve lost count of the new heads I’ve bought over the years with just a few missing nozzles. I wonder how many were actually beyond repair.
