Help recreating this sign.

Hello All,
I'm having a bit of a mind block with this sign, any help appreciated!

Client would like something very similar to the Abaco sign fitted at their location. I have offered a tray but they insist they want the same shape as the abaco sign (see photo) and they would like no perspex behind the letters, and the sign illuminated.

I cant think of a way of doing it where all the guts wont be visible. The problems are that every clients walks past or drives past this sign at eye level, and the angle of the wall (the client likes the angle as they think it will be more visible from the top of the road) if it is not a tray then i don't know what will hide the cables and the LEDs. How would you do this?

We would like to get an even halo light, and hopefully the same sort of consistent light through the letters. I think i need them to get the wall to a vertical and then that will eliminate alot of the problems? any thoughts appreciated.

the dimensions of this sign are 550mm wide by 700mm high.

All the best

Dan

The guts will allways be visible with a sign like this.
You have to find a way to make the guts look good.

Re: Help recreating this sign.

thanks for the replies guys! Simon you have hit the nail on the head! I am trying to figure out a way to hide the guts as the angle of the back wall will make them all the more visible!

cheers

Would it help the add some 10mm acrylic around the back with some frosted vinyl on? Could help hide everything whilst still letting light through!

Re: Help recreating this sign.

Hi Luke,
i wanted to add perspex behind the letters but they are insisting they don't want it! They think its looks better without it, I am failing to get them to understand they will be able to see all the guts, because of the angle of the wall. :bangshead:

cheers

Re: Help recreating this sign.

The attached (rough) sketch shows how you could hide the LEDs from being seen. Although you would still have to hide the driver (perhaps in an IP67 box behind the wall for easy changing?)

Re: Help recreating this sign.

Hi Andy,
thanks for that, they don't want a tray, they want open edges but i guess i could leave the edges open and then install 5cm in from the edge an internal frame and then fit the acrylic, which would help disburse the light and hide most of the guts!

thanks for your help!

cheers

Re: Help recreating this sign.

Is it going inside the display, as seen in the images, or replacing it?

If replacing. looking at the picture, at that height and angle, if there isn't something in the way, you'll have kids putting their arms / fingers up there, and pulling the guts out / getting electrocuted. These type of signs are OK on a wall, out of reach, but I wouldn't leave it open, at that height, on the side of a road.

I would use Health and Safety as an excuse to do it the way that you want.
