Eddie, we open our studio at 5:am and close at 2:pm monday through friday. It takes 45 minutes to get from the studio to Lost Prairie and we then open the Recording Studio at 3:pm. I'm usually in bed by 9:pm at the latest and up again at 4:am.

What a disciplined man you are Pierre, I'm impressed, although I don't know how you manage closing half way thru the afternoon.

I start at 8.30am I work at home with a workshop next to the house so I have no travelling.
I finish about 6pm but often came back after dinner and do quotes or catch up with the BB tillmidnight, sometimes 2am. Up again at 7am. Sleeping is a waste of time

I enjoy bushwalking (rambling to the british), playing Irish music, drinking Irish concoctions in moderation of course, and I'm active in a local church.
I love scuba diving, done that since I was 40, and plan to try skydiving on my 50th birthday coming up.

I long to see England again and plan to move in with Eddie for a year while I travel ireland, study the whistle and learn to speak gaelic.

there you have it, that's me! Good post for those who like to talk about themselves (not like me, I'm a private person) :D

I'm a bit of a night owl myself...no phones, no noise, no distractions...quality time!

Working from a home studio (that's a garden shed) we sort of 'do our own thing' for most of the day. So, whilst we are always around we probably only 'work' at signmaking for 3-4 hours a day. Don't get me wrong, we're not lazy - but we simply set a target each month that will give us a more than comfortable income which, in turn, gives us a general goal each week. It's then upto us how fast or slow we achieve that goal. Believe me, and not meaning to preach but, if you get rid of all the crap that is 'trying to be a big business' or 'building an empire' then earning a good living from your own work can be achieved with a lot less stress...anyway, I'm off at a tangent again... ...if anyone new to all this wants to read more about how we run a small business then just say...

Anyway, normally finish at 5-6pm for tea and then later in the evening do other stuff like design work, UKSG and playing on-line gaming over the internet! - from perhaps 11pm - 2am...and so on...

Gray, I get the majority of my layout, artwork and illustrating done in the first few hours with no telepone calls or walk-ins. Since we're "wholesale only", our customers know our hours and use email, fax or mail to send their job orders.
Our customers are primarily architects, general contractors and large corporations.
We're not in the phone book and we never advertise or solicit work. We have a regular client base and have had for years.

Wow Adrian, those school fees are high. We have our kids in a private school but it's much less costly.

Hope they appreciate what you do for them.

Hhmmm where do I start?
Well I live ¾ of a mile from our workshops, so I get up 8.45am & i am there for 9am.
We finish at 5.30pm but never do! I get home most nights about 7pm or later
Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday I go on the net and work on the site.
Sunday from about 7pm –2 or 3am
Tuesday 8pm till about 2pm
Thursdays 8pm till about 1-2am
The other nights I have off the comp but always end up on just to see if i am missing something. Lol
At the weekends i am normally out and about but always checking advertising boards and signs… I pinch bits and pieces from the design of everyday signs I see to come up with my own ideas for my customers…
So I guess most of my time is signs signs signs… one of the reasons for starting this site…

sure are Gray,
my mums brother lives outside Sydney and his kids go to private school about a 1/3rd cheaper than ours
when they get out of prep school fees are at current £3k a term (9k per year)
2 kids 18k = more hours........... but they are worth it.. and when he and she are a bit older lots of weeding to do in the hols.....

Hi Eddie, you haven't told us what hours you work. We open the shop at 9 and close at 5.30 monday to friday. I'm normally there untill about 6.30 - 7 most days trying to learn all I can about the industry or experimenting with software. I'm normally there most of the w/e as well. As we are a new company we are not as busy as we would like to be so I spend a lot of time trying to promote the business.
