Fixing rail for sign boards

Hi,

I am looking for some help in finding the right thing for the job, and also how to fix to the board.

I have a dibond sign, that needs fixing to a fence, I have ordered signs before that have come with it on. It's a channel to slide metal fixings in? Sorry for sounding daft!

Firstly where to get the channel from and how to attach it to the board without affecting the face

Hi Mark,

Check out:
https://www.blackburnsmetals.com

They sell both the channel and the post clips you need.

The channel comes in different sizes, as does the post clips. The post clip size depends on the diameter of the post you are fixing too, and the clips are universal and will fit any size channel rail.

Depending on the size of the sign and the wind load it will be subjected too, a decent double sided tape will be sufficient most of the time.

Hope this helps mate, give me a shout if you have any questions

We get that from sign and digital over here. They have a uk office but there will be many other suppliers I'm sure. We use 3m cab tape to fix it and maybe a couple of discreetly placed screws for large panels also for extra security

Re: Fixing rail for sign boards

VHB tape as has already been said will do the job, larger signs I also rivet using countersunk rivets with the countersunk part through the front of the panel, normally place them where they will be under some vinyl so they don't show :smiles:
If your fixing to a fence then I think it is "D clips" that you want, been a long time since I have done anything like that so that may not be what they are called :smiles:

Hi Mark,

All of the info above is spot on!

I would strongly recommend you fully degrease and prime your panels (3M Primer 94) before applying the taped rail to your Dibond board. From my experience the lack of preparation tends to cause failure

Definitely agree on the preparation - it really is essential.
