Alternative solution to Contravision for office windows

I am re-doing a large amount of windows for an office block in the city centre. Initially they've had contra vision fitted to the outside windows with there logo (black and white) printed on. Looks like the company who fitted it didn't apply any laminate what so ever, so It's being tagged up badly with graffiti.

Just pricing this up and what with the price of new contra vision and a 10year anti graffiti laminate it's pushing the price sky high. Are there any better options if I tackle this from inside the building? They will still want to retain some vision or light I'm guessing but also have the privacy of the existing materiel.

Already considered frosting btw.

Thanks

James.

There was a post on the forum about contravision material that was applied on the inside but viewed from outside, there are a couple of options on their website

Found one post on the forum but sure there are more

You can try print the graphic on frosting. We did that few times and it looks good as long the colours are strong. You can fit it from inside and job done. You can also fit from outside but then requires lamination and any graphic will look good.

You could mirror print on clear vinyl, and then laminate with a regular frosted. We use That solution a lot on acrylic signs, and it looks great.

Best regards

If I remember correctly you can get clear contra vision, print reverse, then white, then black.

Or theres a tutorial on here about making your own contravision cutting the vinyl into strips, print reverse on clear, back with white, then black, and cut into strips on the plotter.

Could you not just print contravision as you would then mount it with a double sided film allowing you to apply it from the inside

Daniel, never actually tried that but you would probably need to use an optically clear double sided mount film, not bought any for years but they were very expensive at one time, plus what do you do about the sticky side that is now facing the inside

Hi Martin

Not used the stuff myself for years so I couldn't tell you where to get it from or how much, I always used the film to make acrylic artwork.

Sticky side facing the inside? That's a very good point, did not think of that, back to the frosted route then lol

I could leave the backing paper on Martin, think they'd be ok with that

Thanks for the replies, looks like they're ok with the price but it's useful to have some other options up the sleeve.

I've had a quick look for the tutorial Dave but can't see one, will have a look when I have some more time
