that said, if we take weeding our our average day there will be plenty time for drinking tea!

I don't see this any use for the average sign shop but certainly for the high volume runs by larger companies.
i wonder much it costs though...

Re: The world's first automated vinyl weeding machine.

If memory serves me well, the weeding machine that I've seen at Fespa in Cologne last year had a price tag of 225.000 euro.
Even if i have the money for this machine I will employ people to weed vinyl. I cannot see this machine justifying its price tag. But maybe that's why I'm small business, because of my attitude not to want to expand.

Surely you have the decimal point in wrong place there?
I actually guessed it in at about £20k - £25k but no way would I have put it at £200k+

An amazing engineering job. :appl: I don't now how you could justify the investment. 20,000. Seems low 220,000. Is out of sight. But then back in the day we spent over 20,000 on a Gerber sprint. And 200. Per font.

Exactly what i said yesterday Duncan... :thumbup2:

I would like to see how much is involved in the initial setup before it starts and what software input must be done.
I think large runs of graphics, and roll to roll weeding, this would be great!

I dont think it does roll to roll weeding though, looking at their site it only does sheet feeding.

I would assume each sheet will need to be exactly the same size in order for it know the start point?

I think the one in the video is the smaller of the two David.
Theres a second machine and i am sure it has a roll setup to the front of it.

That said. Plotters come with auto sheet cut functions. So can easily be set to keep chopping at a certain page size if its the smaller machine of the two.

Thinking on it more... I recon there must be a fixed page size, maybe much bigger on the larger machine. I say that because logic would be that the machine can't "prefeed half weeded media and then proceed. if that makes sense?
that said, i guess it maybe could if the base is a conveyor.

200k!!!

Wow! I would just hire a guy for 10 years with that money. I can see this machine causing all sorts of problems. Random dots in web address's going missing or torn letters...
