Coloured film to fit over floodlights

Last year i created this effect using normal coloured vinyl onto the floodlight glass. They want the same this year and i'm trying to find a more suitable film. The problem last time was the vinyl started to melt with the heat of the bulb. I know i can get gel sheets but these aren't self adhesive are they? Ive tried looking for coloured bulbs but cant find any. The lights are standard floodlights with RX7s halogen bulbs.
Any suggestions?

If you can get something suitable that isn't self adhesive you may be able to make it self adhesive using a print mounting film, I do this with quite a lot of materials that I need to stick to something.
How many do you have to do Ewan? How much mount film would you need for the job??

Only 2 to do, approx 200X200 each. I think I may have found red LED replacement bulbs . Need to check the size today

You should be able to get LED Lamps with just about any fitting these days but they may not be as bright. If you do end up needing a bit of D/S mounting film I have optically clear film & can put a bit in the post for you Ewan.

Ewan

Hexis have a good range of coloured films, not sure how it would be with the heat though, they will send you 2 or 3 samples free of charge.

Oracal also do the 8300 coloured range, commonly used for tinting car lights

Forget the name of the film we used in the theater but if you contact either your local Theater and ask the Lighting crew or try somewhere like Tandy as they sell disco lights.

Its not a sticky film.......... wait................................

Re: Coloured film to fit over floodlights

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Vic that link was spot on. The film is suitable up to 220 degrees which is higher than any of "our" vinyls.
Martin, thanks for the offer but i can attach this with high temp resistant tape.
Will try and remember to post a photo when its done

Re: Coloured film to fit over floodlights

Update!
Ordered the coloured film from stage depot and fitted over the glass using heat resistant tape. The film is rated up to 220 degrees. I put my laser thermometer on the lights and the hottest they got was 113 degrees so all good. Here's the result. If i would change anything it would be stronger bulbs, These ones are 150w but i reckon 200 would give a better glow.
