Clarity Software advice?

I have just downloaded the free version to have a look at, but I cant get it to print an invoice, it says it needs sage to do so,
does anyone know if it can be set to print with ms excel? or just print the invoice direct, and if so how,
Peter

You must have it set to do so as the program is capable on its own as far as I know.
You'll get the pestering sales call any moment.
Clarity will not give any help once you run the software unless on a support contract.
A bit like Intuit with Quickbooks - no money , no help.
I like the software but hate the restrictions in getting it exactly how you want it without that paid support.
Hence I opted for Quotewerks instead.

i haven't tried printing from it peter-n, just loaded it to see how it works.
i am seriously looking at a software like this to help streamline our business.
i wish to god i had 5 minutes to sit down and do it properly though, only so long you can chase your tail. :lol1:

i think some of the franchise groups and the like run this software too... maybe one of them will make a reply on how beneficial they find it.
would be interested to hear anyone elses views on it that use it daily...

peter-d, i know what you mean mate... we run quickbooks and its same story on support etc as you say. to be honest though, if it does what i want it to do and streamlines our business i would not mind paying at all. we all pay thousands for design software, RIP software etc to run our business's this really isn't any different.

Clarity

Hi Peter, you first have to create a Job/Quote using the “New” button on Job/Quote tab, just follow the wizard entering a customer that you have previously created.
Initially, the job is a quote, change the status to Confirm, give an order number or verbal whoever.
Now press the “Print” button and select Invoice, on the next screen you have to press the
“All Items” button then press the “Print” button.
Next the standard Print or Save screen opens and you simply select your option, simples.
Hope this helps a bit.

Robert, why would you want to buy or run software like this if you already use quickbooks????

Hi All

We have run Clarity now for a about 4 years and find it save us a huge amount of time estimating jobs as long as you spend some time setting it up properly. It will save you a lot of time producing quotes, delivery notes invoices etc.

I could not work without it now. The only problem I have with it is that once you invoice a job you cannot un-invoice it if you have made a mistake on the invoice (mainly with VAT rates)

Best wishes

Peter,

Save yourself a small fortune and if you opt to buy the software then just get Clarity Lite. It has everything you need and is less than half the price. I took the optional support for £10 per month but im due to cancel it because its not needed really.

Invoices can be printed directly, aslong as the quote has been set to "Confirmed". Simply go to print, then select invoice, click "add all items" and that should be it.

Im at work from 10am tomorrow, feel free to ring me and ill help where I can.

Alex, they've fixed it so that no-one can alter invoices, sense in a way but as you say, mistakes need correcting.
Paul, beware when cancelling support, I ran their previous software to Clarity and stopped support as they were no longer developing the software (due to transferring over to Clarity/Lite.
Some while later I rang them to ask if the software would run on XP Pro.
Their reply?
We can't help you because you don't have a support contract any more.

Clarity Lite is certainly all that is needed for a small business but with such a snotty attitude I opted for Quotewerks instead which is far more tweakable.

Alex,

You can delete the invoice and then invoice the job again. We have been using Clarity for about 4-5 months and have done this already on a couple.

Clarity

You can actually alter the invoice after it has been printed. Go to Invoices
click on the invoice you want to change. When it comes up there is an edit button in the bottom left hand corner, click on this and do the alterations you need on the invoice itself and then reprint it. It will then automatically save the changes.. As for the support, I find them probably one of the best support teams around and I find the price quite a lot cheaper than many other software companies would charge.

Hi Mark, Just had a look at our Clarity and we can't do what you say. We do have a 'New' button but you still have the original ?

Michael You have to go to your invoice list after you have done the wrong invoice then click on the invoice and in the bottom left of the grey area(the invoice looks as tho you can't do anything to it) there is an edit button. Click on this and it opens the invoice up. You can then change the wording and the prices to what you require. When you nprint it again it saves it. There is a warning box that comes up saying that if you alter the invoice any changes will take immeadiate effect and cannot be altered.
