can chrome be applied to complex curves?

Hi every body
Is there such a product as a vinyl that could be "coaxed" around some quite complex curves, rather like a cast/wrapping vinyl??

regards
Darryl(ex newbie!!!)[cheers Rob]

no mate.. i would have to say no..

chrome vinyl is a polyester film/foil and not actualy a vinyl as such.
its a bit like trying to wrap with sticky-backed tin foil

maybe someone will tell me im wrong but ive never none or heard of any. :D

Hi Darryl,

Hexis do a 5 year 50 micron cast chrome, I've used it over the bonnet of a Chrysler PT Cruiser with very good results (see picture) - if memory serves it's CH8001 (sad I know :o ).

I think I've still got some kicking around if you want a bit to play with - let me know.

Darryl

Funny that someone would ask the question, because the other day when I came off the M1 at jcn 13, I saw a tractor unit (lorry cab) totally finished in mirror chrome.
I mean the whole unit was chrome finish! Did not get close enough for a better inspection but was a strange sight.
Anyone else seen this before on a vehicle?

chrome wrap

Hi Darryl,

Orafol are due re-launch 383 Ultra metallic mirror and Ultra leaf, gold and silver cast pvc in January, polyester has no stretch whatsoever and generally only a short exterior life this will offer more conformability but wrapping would be a bit much i think, and yes it will be quite expensive.
