Yes thanks Peter, in all the years I had never really noticed there was a recent post section for off topic discussions!

Had a great time, only problem is 8 days isn't anywhere near enough. We did around 750 miles too. :o The drive from LA to San Francisco was great following the Pacific Road. Would highly recommend it.

We went to the West Coast of America this time Shane. Will wait till the little un is a little older for the long trip down under I think. Over 10 hours each way was quite an ordeal with him on my lap!

He made some new friends in SF... :lol1:

Great pic Brian. Gorgeous little fella, takes after his mum obviously :lol1:

The wife and I did the same trip over 3 weeks back in the 80's, and like Rob, I'd go back in a minute.

We did Nevada, Disney, Universal, Scotsdale, Yellowstone... all the sights on an organsied tour, then a few days in Hawaii on our way home. Fantastic place. Australia had just won the Americas cup and we were the flavour of the month.

Went to a restaurant in SF for breakfast.... been there 20 minutes when we realised the wife was the only woman in the whole place. Turned out to be a gay haunt. Food was great though. I got a bigger served than the wife too. I think they were giving her the cold shoulder....

Glad you enjoyed yourself mate.

I spent a month working for a games company in the US in 2005, we drove from eugene oregon to San Fran (was there for a week) then drove back and the views were amazing.

I'd love to go back.

Surprised you did a similar trip & enjoyed L.A. Rob. That was the worst part for me horrible place. Even thought Universal in Florida was better. And was quite surprised how run down & dirty Hollywood is.

We may do something like you, a little more organised next time Shane (money permitting) think we may get to see more that way.

Also should have done it a few months ago before the £ plummeted!

Did any of you stop by this place.....

Is that Hearst Castle? Only drove past, it was still infamous due to the daughters kidnap/Terrorist dealings etc.... at the time

That's the one Shane, place up on the hill. 15 years to build apparently. Amazing what you can do if you have a few spare $'s. :D

Who said giving bad news was not good business. Mind you, he made his fortune when the newspaper was the main source of information....

Interesting read here if anyone is interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearst_Castle

Cheers folks.

Handn't heard of it either to be honest John S. Speaking to a guy in a garage a few days before & he recommended it. Worth seeing if you are passing that's for sure.

Found somebody on ebay to do a 3' x 2' canvas of the pic. Propper frame inc postage for £25. Too cheap surely? don't like to use ebay to be honest, but it seemed a good deal?

And John S, yes could do with another, can I join you in January?

Oh btw John C, spoke to you just before you went away. You were going to send me some Volvo stuff? did you forget or have Royal Mail let us down?
