Mark, a friend of mine has just had one serviced. Think he paid around £200 for the call out & labour plus a few qiud more for some cheap parts.

How do you know it needs work? what kind?

Just had to book a hotel in Sydney for new year, left it a bit late apparently. Cheapest place with rooms was £960 for 6 nights. And Australia is suppsoed to be cheap! :cry: :cry:

If you go to "START" then "PROGRAMS" then "SIGNLAB e6" you should have an icon to update Signlab..

....click that & it should update Signlab for you. Obvioulsy you will be have to be connected to the internet.

If it doesn't work give us a call & I will get a new cd sent out....

Have you downloaded sevice pack 2 lately?

If you have it will cause that to happen.

To cure it you need to download the latest Signlab patch, to update to Signlab 6.1 rev 13 or above...

Thanks Dave, I will bear in mind chasing up to make sure B & P have done their job next time. Your machine is the 1st Cadet that has required an engineer in the 7 months we have been supplying them, so it is fairly rare. Hopefully once they come to sort out the noise you will have no further problem...

Use the EPS filter in Signlab, we do it all the time.

Just make sure when you are in Corel you use the EPS, PRN, EPS Postcript Interpreted filter, otherwise you will just get a grey box in Corel.

Use EPS in Corel as well if you want to take files the other way...

Sounds like you got a rouge machine Steve.

The guy I know as I say had problems in the beginning, but for the last year it's has been 100% reliable.

I would ask your supplier for some references Ian, there are plenty of people out there that are happy with the machine....

Prints onto uncoated media, banner material etc. He usually covers the print with clear vinyl or a spray laminate. (Doesn't have room for a laminator) As you say the inks are the same so I guess you should be able to print to just about anything the Grenadier can. He has never had a problem with dur...

You will have to upgrade or stick with Windows 98.

On the plus side upgrading to version 7 is £450, if you had have gone from 4.95 to ver 6.1 it would have been £550. So Cadlink have made it a little easier to bear...

Brushman is right it's a rebadged Mutoh, give Mutoh a try. Also you could try Alan & Flynn Signs 01992 630318, he has a lot of dealings with Mutoh & his own engineer, sounds like it's probably something simple.

I think you will find the Summa D60 is not as well built as the Summa T610 of the past Marty, so to compare your old 2100-50 with the 3100-60 is a little unfair. The fact that it's not built like a tank doesn't mean it won't do just as good a job.

You can't export from the demo version. If you were able, people could get the demo version & a simple cut driver & have almost all the benefits of a full version at the fraction of the cost.

There are also easier ways to get from Signlab to Corel Draw without exporting.

I would say at a quick guess not having thought about it much 50-75 dpi would be fine. If you were to take a photo or image that was the size of a van and 300 dpi the file size would be HUGE! The Graphtec can be set to GPGL or HPGL, I don't cut using the windows Graphtec driver but it sounds like you may well be sending the wrong language to the cutter. Look at the cutter settings if it's set to HPGL try GPGL & vice versa.

Graphtec & Summa do allignment devices for their plotters. It is far trickier to get right than with a Gerber plotter becuase you have more than 1 axis to worry about. You need to set at least 2 reference points, I wouldn't recommend it for the Edge unless you have no other choice.

You will need to vectorise a tiff file in order to cut it. You do this by using the accuscan in Signlab. A tiff file is a bitmap image so is basically made up of hundreds of dots, the cutter needs this to be converted to vectors to understand it. It's not the easiest thing to describe how to do over...

If it's a bitmap you will also get a message saying "no objects selected" when you try to cut it. If it is a bitmap it may well need posterising as well before you can vectorise it.
