Not sure I agree with Colin regarding import filters in Corel, I have always regarded them as being very good certainly in X3 pdf import is very good as is eps and ai. I have full Acrobat 5 so not new and any pdf files which are not coming in cleanly can be saved as ps or eps, these virtually always...

I use Corel and put 3mm black squares around the objects you must know the distance between the horizontal and vertical. I use Winplot/cut which came with the Summa but I think it is downloadable from the Summa site, on installation it will place a button in Corel Draw. You can use this to cut anyth...

I would imagine that litho would only be cheaper if you printing several hundred and more so if in colour. A1 is quite big for a small litho company, obviously bigger companies could do it but the price may well be more.

Most of the garment films are very good now the only problem is if they are ironed directly over the decoration, turning inside out is a workround.

If your colleague is going to upgrade to 7.1 I suspect his troubles may well dissappear. 7.1 will import later versions of ai also with eps files you will be propted to import as eps or pdf, if you choose pdf the eps will be automatically converted then imported. This normally gives very good result...

I don't know what my USP is only that I've always been busy this last 30 odd years. When I started with computers I had a strap line of "Retaining the skills, using the technology"

A local company to me had one with the digitising and from what I remember digitising was a laborious task, you produced hundreds of straight lines and then the software had a 'smoothing' feature which just made the stright lines shorter with more nodes. I remember saying to the guy (I was a brushma...

Updating should pose no problem but before you consider reinstall, save you workspace if it has been customised, close Corel, restard Draw with F8 pressed and accept the default workspace, try opening your file if ok re-import your old workspace. Corel can get a corrupt workspace especially if impor...

O bjects will also appear on all pages if a layer has been assigned as a master layer. The object manager docker is a good one to have open as it gives you the control over layers, items can be dropped onto another layer there as can changing layer order.

Just to add to Steves's post, I use both Corel X3 and Signlab V7.1. All vinyl is done in house with digital print done by others from my files which have been set up in Corel. I could make my living using Corel alone but my workflow for vinyl does often include both. Primarily for vinyl I would use ...

Corel 12 also would have come with Font navigator. Assuming you have installed this, find this under the programme/corel section and run it. It will search your hardrive for fonts, you will also be able to install fonts from removeable disks. When you run it you will get 2 panes, left will fonts on ...

If you were to use Acrobat to produce your pdf that wouldn't be an issue. X3 did have alot of work so that its own publish to pdf was more compatible, don't assume though that everything Adobe will be perfect, things like transparencies can still cause problems.

This may have something to do with the export format, eps and AI will retain curves but plt (hpgl) & DXF will convert the curve to hundreds of lines although I think the resolution (number of lines) can be altered. EPS or AI is the normal prefered export method when transfering files into other ...
