Bubbles and the Pits!!

Must say, i have battled with this for years - i am but a mere novice compared to some of you guys and I fit graphics to vehicles maybe once a week on average but would love to get that 'new fresh paint look' using vinyl!! - I have persevered with applying dry and would love to master that technique...

Not sure if this will help for wide format but i use this software on our laser printers for printing multiple up tickets etc. - I found this to be a little gem - comes with a 30 day trial so no worries if it isn't quite what you're looking for - If you decide to buy its £25 gbp - This software allo...

Work dockets & job bags

Coming from a printers workshop background, we have always printed off an A4 work docket showing customer name, addrs. description of job etc. any unusual or helpful info that may be useful (if we remember to type it in??!!) price workings are usually scribled on the back - this docket then goes int...

T-shirt printer

A company called IPM technology 0870 741 8830 sell a machine that they advertise as the 'Xante digital T-shirt printer'. It's basically a colour laser printer that uses modified toners that improve the durability of the print on the garment (they claim?) (?) - I've only recently seen their add and o...

Flexi or Signlab?

I had a similar discusion a couple of weeks ago - Signlab seemed to be the most popular programme for sign makers and If I where setting up from scratch I would probably go for sign lab - I bought a graphtec plotter a few years ago and cut from Coral draw on a PC - this was the cheapest way for me t...

Which Van??

Nigel - Like the idea of the Peugeot Partner :D and Citroen Dispatch sounds good too :D - I'm pushed for parking space at home hence the smaller size

I like Rob's convertable Merc transit - I might pinch that idea myself one day :D :D

Thanks for the tips :D (!)

Can anyone recommend a van?

Can anyone recommend a van that is good for the sign trade? :o - I'd rather have something smaller than a transit but worried that a smaller size van will be a struggle, and carrying ladders and strapping signs to the roof or side will be a pain. Any thoughts or recommendations will be greatly appre...

Lee, I've been designing and cutting this way since i first bought my Graphtec plotter, simply becuase as you say "it works" and it's also been the cheapest way for me to get going :D - I'm thinking though that the more expensive, fancy sign software packages have more to offer when things get more ...

Using Adobe Illustrator

I've been using Illustrator for years. i find it excellent when needing to draw something from scratch - once you get the hang of using the vector tools it's quicker to trace a new graphic from a bad scan than it is to clean up a poor scanned image - and like all vector graphics, no loss in quality ...

do i overlay vinyl or cut it in?

From a novice - Is it considered improper to overlay vinyls rathet than cut and fit in vinyls - For instance, I have produced a couple of simple vehicle graphics 6 inches high in metalic gold with a dark green shadow. The easyest way (I thought) seeing it was only a cheapy job was to cut two graphic...

Hi - Can anyone tell me when applying a vinyl graphic to a deep recess to a vehicle whether the graphic should be compensated for the recess so it doesn't look odd once applied - Is there a recommended depth (low point) on a recess or recommended minimum width on graphic before you should consider c...

Hi, I have been following this sight for a few months now (when I manage to get time!) - I have had a Graphtec FC400/75 cutter/plotter for a few years now - stuck in the corner of my print workshop using it to supply the odd vehicle graphic and shop sign. - Since coming back to this sight now and ag...
