You can buy apolar vinyl which either has a very high tack or rubber adhesive for low energy surfaces , only digital vinyl though as far as I know , could you print the black and cut it out maybe ? Or mask out and paint ?

Hi There,

Oracal do 3161DT and 3551DT , the DT stands for Deep temperature , can be applied at minus 5 , should help in the cold months ahead.

3161 is a monomeric 4 yr , 3551 is a 7yr soft polymeric.

The best bit of advice i can give to you is to look for courses that are run by companies that are truly impartial to the sales of a vinyl and related products, and that has qualified tutors endorsed by the vinyl manufacturers.

that will greatly narrow down those available.

Most spec sheets will tell you minimum application temp is around 8dg , fitting at sub zero is asking for trouble no matter what vinyl you use.

Please if you are unsure ask a friendly supplier to decommission it for transportation, get it wrong and you could ruin your printer, a customer of mine did and was was quoted £4000 by Roland to put right. It doesn't take long but better to be safe than sorry when your business relies on it.

The other reason to laminate is to eliminate the possibility of dirt ingress also when it rains if there is no lamination the water will fill the holes and you can't see clearly out
For all the extra it costs it's well worth while.

RHG are the exclusive distributors of Oracal in the UK , we do keep matt black 1520mm wide on the shelf which has a repositionable adhesive, its a double layer cast , the top surface effectively being a matt clear overlaminate for protection.

Normally its a 2 part adhesive but make sure it cures together at a low temperature, if not it will soften the PU middle and you will get pot marks where the adhesive is showing through the sheet,

Thomas, most adhesives are acrylic , some waterbased acrylic and some solvent acrylic , its the solvent acrylic you need , ask for acrylic and most will supply waterbased which will go milky when applied wet.

Oracal wall art is designed for exactly that , we only keep the digital print grade but could buy colours in, theres a range of about 50 matt colours, got a kind of Post it note type adhesive somewhere in between removable and ultra removeable, its on their website.

Vinyl is made to be receptive to inks etc this is why you can print onto it, anti graffiti film is hard coated to stop things from keying, overlaminate are not the same by any means, anti graffiti is sold by the meter you can buy 1m at a time if you need to.

You will get a warranty from 2 years to 5 years in writing subject to using OEM inks and the correct matched vinyl/laminate , Oracal / Avery and 3M will all have a warrantied selection but only with Original inks.

Yep you need an agressive waterbased adhesive, either Fascal supertack or Oracal 1640 high tack are commonly used for this.

Take mattys advice , you can buy 10m of wrapping film at a time from some places so extra expense shouldnt be a problem, ask Metamark if they would use it for this application my guess is they will say MD7.

print on the white side and the printed side sticks to the inside of the window, the more white the better the cling, the solvent ink seems to soften the face and add some cling to it, never had any issues with it, 1370mm x 25m i think.

Definately agree , the vinyl you printed on will or should have a matching overlaminate that ideally should be cast on the same machine and have identical characteristics to the film.

When put together you are simply creating a thicker vehicle wrap film.

A tip from manfred (he with the pony tail) if you want to use 900 or 951 , cover it with the appropriate film either Dol1080 or 3951 and use command form on the surface , you will effectively have a 100mic film with repositionable adhesive with a choice of about 120 colours !!

900 series is a 50mic film with a permanent adhesive, it will be much harder to apply than 970 series which is a double cast 100mic thick and repositionable.

In the UK we stock 970 series with repositionable adhesive, RA adhesive isnt so good on recesses as the adhesive gaps stretch and there may be some areas that dont adhere to the van, use the standard 970 series and heat to 120dg you wont have any problems.

Sorry to correct you Mark but Europoint do either a 1 year or 2 year , both are cast gloss flourescent and we of course have a yellow.

The 7510 is a 2 year and is a triple layer cast white/flourescent/clear.

This would be the best product to use.

Is it Self adhesive vinyl ? do B&P have a profile for a specific grade?

Rob ( lambie) has a Grenadier so i presume uses the same inks etc , he uses a backlit polyester film and gets good results , maybe thats worth a try and check with rob what profile he uses?

HI there,

Polyester is not recommended for long life exterior uses , i have sent details of the 210G PVC which has an outside life of 4 years and ink enhancement of + 2 years.
220HG also says + 2 years as can also be used to overlaminate internal prints using non colourfast inks.

You will know better than me but i would be wary of laminating after only 1 day , solvent is still evaporating if you trap it the laminate wont stay on for long as the solvent will try to escape,some Hydrosol has a scuff resistant surface so may not need laminating.

If its just a flat surface use 3164 or 3651 digital vinyl , if someone wants to advertise there it wont be up that long , 751 cast seems overkill , you will get a better print with the digital grade.

Please tell me who said they didnt know what you were talking about i will enlighten them !!! Etched Glass is only in silver and gold , Frosted Glass has a real glitter/sparkle to it and comes in white/pink/blue/gold/green.

OK , in that case glad it works , spec sheets says working temp is up to 110dg adhered to Aluminium , over 200dg ang 851 being a cast vinyl will return to its original state ie Liquid.

Hi There, It wont be a Vinyl 851 is a cast vinyl, Vinyls melting point is around that temperature , check the spec on http://www.orafol.de for Oracal 351 polyester and see what it works up to , if not Ritrama do a self adhesive aluminium foil that should work , its designed for lables on engines etc...

Europoint / RHG / Anchor Magnets / Bisbell will all be able to get it for you , Anchor and Bisbell stock it , Europoint and RHG keep the 850mic for exterior use on the shelf.
