Everyone, Thanks for the information about the gloves, I will follow that up today, As regards to over lamination, we have not bothered on our most recent project as it is a short term job and does'nt really need it, but to be honest I think it would totally compromise the conformability of the mate...

Signco, If you are planning on using a printed vinyl for vehicle wrapping then personally I wouldn't even contemplate using anything but Avery 1005EZ it literally is the best stuff, we have used plenty of different types of vinyl with claims of great conformability, NONE of them come even close!! Ye...

Gav,

Chris is right Xpres seem to be the best, wide range of materials and all ex-stock. I have found that trial and error can be the best way to get the best results with their materials- different types on different fabrics & which one is best suited certain logos and designs.

If you are going to be printing and contour cutting lots of small labels/decals then this a great machine, if not a little expensive to run like Phill says. If you have the intention of printing things larger than approx 300mm square I would forget it, most picky customers get sniffy about the 'band...

Innocent We've had our JV3 for a few months now, I must say the output has been excellent, I do have a few tips though, always clean out the capping stations at the end of the day so that while it is "ticking over" during the night or weekend the heads are'nt sitting in to much ink, also bear in min...

Dave is right, the quality of the artwork is critical, for example a high-res photo image around 1500x600mm can be 6-700mb when exported as an EPS, and when its ripped can create a file well over a Gb in size.

Have you bought the machine new? if so, why has'nt the supplier set it up for you?
What RIP are you using? we run our JV3 using the ColourGate RIP.

Am I missing the whole "Gerber Edge thing"? :o I just don't understand why people are still investing hard earned money in such old technology, surley manually changing ribbons for each process colour is very labour intensive (not wishing to knock those who run a Gerber  ) £12000 is a very lar...

Point taken, it was just a private ambulance, and the vinyl used was'nt upto full spec anyway, the main intention the customer had with the job was so the vehicle "looked the part" but I will take into account your comments on the next job,
Thanks for the tip!

I'd give Trounce in Cheetham Hill, Manchester a try.
They do all kinds of bunting in PVC, Nylon, Banner material,
either off the shelf or custom made ie different arrangements of
colours, they tend to be very reasonable on price to.

We use Avery 900sc on wraps or very alkward vehicle contours, the CD-ROM avery sends out is very useful, and the tips and pointers it gives for concave and convex surfaces are very good. The only tips I could give for lining up prints over panel gaps etc. would be to try and ensure that joints land ...

We've been running a 1000mm Excelam machine for a few years now for encapsulating and mounting A1 and A0 prints, we've done some quite high volume runs with it and it has run very well, with no breakdowns. The main thing is to look after the heat rollers, giving them a good wipe down during roll cha...

Being a new member, I thought we would display an example of our work.
This is one of a fleet of private ambulances we have recently done.

Opinions welcome.
