Well i managed to get the file to open correctly for cutting and the way i did it was to reimport in corel (it still showed the lines when opened ) weld.... that lost the lines then... break curves and export as an ai again as curves If you export without breaking the curves your cuts remain worked ...

I have currently got problems with my signlab crashing and currently cant use it so am having to try and make do with corel 12 trouble i am finding is that if i design text etc and save or export it as an ai file for cutting in my easy sign driven plotter it opens with loads of verticle cutting line...

Thanks Dave i have seen similar materials in B&Q but don't think they would be man enough for a vehicle ,Simon what you suggest would be durable but may not conform to the shape
Unless a supplier stocks vinyl preprinted on the roll then I will have to go with

home office /study... had the same problem but a trip to ikea solved it
get yourself a set of Billy bookcases,store all your vinyl ,(they fit exactly)as well as books files etc
you wont find better without it looking industrial

Thanks all for the advice ,i think i will suggest a regular 'bright' yellow as an alternative

Don't really like the finish on florescent as it tends to look satin compared to other vinyls

Shane What and spoil all the fun.. seriously though i doubt whether there is a compilation image using all the different cafe things ,let alone two then there's all the time weeding etc it wouldn't be practical Plus clip art is usually designed to work on a light background it never looks right used...

Dont go over swage lines its bad ,planning [or i should say no planning] work with the shapes on the van.Iive only rearranged but it looks like it fits

i was intending to replace with 9800
the blind is drum tight and silky smooth and permanently down

I swear by an alloy tower of which i mainly only use the base secton which is ideal for fascias

i used trestles for years but found them unstable on anything but flat ground a problem i never get with a tower as all the legs are ajustable

Bernardo hang on in there ..if you want to paint windows take lots of pics of what you have done and look out for shops with windows in prime locations target them show them what youve done and dont worry about how long it takes practice practice the more you do ,the more you will have pics of a goo...

a background of Burgundy brown or green will all work with the beige text
and look traditional

whatever blows yer frock up ..

I would outline the pics in the background colour before setting

ive painted a good few barrels ,usually when they are shot blasted to remove old cement spills prior to repainting the surface is not' too' (for peter ) smooth enough for vinyl to bite

Ive got to strip and reletter a couple of light boxes currently fitted with with opal panels im going to cover in translucent yellow, cutting out areas of text for green and then drop trans green into it my question is how much overlap would you add to the text to ensure no white shows Terry

Prepare the plaque with stain & yacht varnish leave a couple of days to harden then apply lettering

or stain and varnish, use a mask, paint lettering then varnish again

Just a tip

f you need to put say white lettering covered in regular app tape on to a darker outline layer it helps to rub the text layer lightly with a black crayon ,that shows up the letters
makes lining up within the outline easier
works for me

Ive just done a shop makeover using mactac 9800 bright yellow text for the fascia lettering and window striping in the same colour
cut the striping to size for the windows only to find the adhesive side white

no one told me,so be aware if the code finishes with a SL

if the laminate was slightly larger than the sticker it is to protect and a supply of these were supplied seperately and were appied when the details needed to be changed Being slightly bigger they would be easier to peel off Terry

Are you using far eastern or birch ply ,I solely use birch now as the
other was getting unrealiable plus the birch comes in bigger panel sizes
bit dearer but worth the investment

As a first attempt you done really well
Take care when using white though it can overpower the whole design

I have found that using white to lighten my first stripe colour looks nice

i dont mark out much of the design
i do draw light horizontal and vertical
lines as i go so that it all balances

the design in striping is something that takes its own course
you add a bit here and there as you go along

If it dont look right ,wipe it back and just start again

thanks robert excuse my ignorance but when you say silicone is that the same product that iis used to seal around baths etc or are you suggesting something totally different The locator idea though would have been possible if the surface had been reasonable and finished but its bare plasterboard terry

Just produced a two panel perspex fascia sign every thing was applied in reverse onto clear and backed up, The sign is to be fixed in a indoor precinct onto a flat plasterboard wall ,not wanting to add a frame as i like the clean edge can can this be stuck with silicone or tape... Panels are 5mm 96"...

Thanks for the comments Rob , airbrushing the vinyls takes only about 30min Theyre done prior to laying up and the shadow is cut into pieces to align more accuratly and butted against the major shapes inks used ,the blue text gets a brushed clearcoat for extra protection though ive not had inks fail

Thanks Liam but no joy Brian I opened as ai in signlab and selected the veiw I wanted and copy /pasted into pshop ,worked fine -thanks If I create something in photoshop at 300dpi and put it onto my outline then when I save it it will be the correct size to print -is that right or am I making a mupp...
