No I dont think it is as I had a Hexis swatch of black reflective that was significantly darker then the grey on the van and it would have had to fade drastically for it to look the same.

Take a look at your blade and make sure the tip isnt damaged, if it is then it wont matter how much pressure you apply it still wont cut well. If it is damaged then you will need a new blade, you can damage it by knocking it on something and chipping the end.

Apparently some anti virus softwares seem to detect a virus but there isnt one there. I have spoken to Jeff from Graphtec GB and he says its a common thing and the software should be clean.

I would ring Graphtec service department anyway and check that what you have done is right and wont cause any other problems. If your machine is under warranty you should be able to get help no problem. Anyway phoning them wont cost you any more than a phone call and its better to be safe than sorry...

Wow Phil that describes exactly what I wanted to say, I must admit I generally advise no washing for 48 hours after application but the reasons you give are very good. What do you think about car washes? Most of the driving school cars are put through car washes.

Its a definite no to fitting in the rain, simply because if your backing paper gets wet it will stick to the sticky side of the letters and is very difficult to remove. The vinyl used was solvent printed and I will have to check wether it was monomeric or polymeric. It will be interesting to see if the milky spots do disappear, unfortunately the job needs to go out today

I think that it will have to be applied dry but the customer is VERY fussy and Im not sure if she will wait till the silvering disappears. At this point Im not sure that she has a choice :(

Hi, the plastic strip for the 4100 is discontinued and you can use one for the 5100 but it has to be cut to size but it will have to be ordered from Japan and would take about 2 weeks to get here. I would love to go to Whistler, Canada, but this year we did the "portes de soliels" ( I think thats how its spelt ) in France and it was awesome, well worth a visit. Tracks from mad downhill routes to cross country rides. I just hate the cable car that you have to take to get up to them.

Definitely give your local planning authority a ring they are very helpful, I had to ask about a similar sign recently and that does need planning permission, and this sign was on the customers own land. Perhaps this a job that should be printed instead of vinyl cut. The other option is to simplify the artwork so that there are fewer colours. I have done this sort of job a number of times and there comes a point when it is more suitable for printing

Hi Martin, its render so would be pretty hard to stick VHB tape to. I had thought of fixing it from the top and then using something like grip fill to stck it to the render but it would be pretty messy and tricky to make it look good

The only thing I can say other than what has been said is that trying to cut lettering 1 or 2mm high is asking alot from most machines. I generally limit letter size to about 4 or 5mm high and even then you need nimble fingers to weed it ok. Any very small lettering will tend to lift from the backin...

Thanks people! The One Planet thing is a mountain bike centre, I forgot to take piccies of the back where it shows the rear window detailing what they do. The Warrior shape is easy to fix to as all the panels are nice and smooth :D

I agree with Andy, I always do vans dry, its much quicker and easier. Simply clean your surface and dry it, stick your graphics into place using masking tape, measure to make sure its level and in the right position, then put a piece of tape right down the middle of the graphic ( vertically usually)...

I would always apply layers on the job rather than on the bench, its the way I was taught and I do it either wet or dry depending on how detailed the layering was. Ive always managed to get bubbles when assembling on the bench prior to fitting the job

Hi Neil, yes I run a graphtec, my husband is the service engineer for graphtec GB and he says that he thinks Omega only has a 4 foot graphtec driver and it would need to be altered and it maybe worth a phone call to spandex to help you solve your problem.

Scalpels are definitely my worst enemy, but I have been known to slice various parts of myself with paper, rusty car doors and have even fallen on the floor while pulling application tape off that suddenly tore :oops:

The font used is actually compressed, which is extended out. The kids font is one called first grader. Thanks for the comments :D

and finally the two with vinyls on the outside.
Two or three of the windows are changed on a monthly basis and the customer spefically asked for the main windows to have the graphics in reverse to stop people picking at them when queuing to go in to the nightclub

I prefer working on the inside in reverse, as Marcella says the glue will cure over 24 hours or so and any frosting that you see will disappear. Also its usually warmer and drier working onthe inside :lol1: Im becoming a fair weather sign maker

Ive done both recently, I lettered two windows on the outside because they had a green panel blocking the window from the inside. I did 5 windows on the inside with the vinyl reverse cut so it could be seen from the outside. Just depends on the situation. If you apply from the inside then the letter...

Hi, I would not want any of my comments used in a dispute over a machine. I know that I operated a Gerber Maxx and although there were a few teething troubles ultimately the service and support we had were brilliant and the machine produced alot of very good work and still is as far as I know.

I have noticed more problems in applying vinyl in the heat we have been having here lately. It makes the vinyl more stretchy and less forgiving. Ive got squeegee knuckle from pressing out bubbles :lol1:

I would do as David and Shane have said and see if I could claim for a new laptop on my house insurance. It may not settle the extended warranty issue but it would enable you to keep working which is the biggest issue at present.

I would charge around the £25 mark, wether it carries the promise of more work or not. I cant count how many times a customer has asked for something small and promised me more work. In reality it doesnt materialise very often.

So long as there are no rivets and its a flat even surface, I would definitely do it wet especially in this weather. I prob wouldnt use application tape either, ( but that's prob one of my own personal methods and not everyone would do it like this )

From what I understand the X axis is the roll length and the Y axis is the left to right of the plotter, so you would need to set the X axis to the 180cm that you need. Try that and see if it works
