Hi there,

Anti graffiti film is normally a hard coated polyester that doesn't allow solvents to key to it , therefore it just sits on the surface , a mild solvent should be enough to clean it away , isoprop should do the trick no problem.

Its sold by the metre so wont break the bank, 2 grades kept in stock it absorbs uv light very quickly then discharges it very slowly when the lights go out.

given that its effect will be minimal on a van , would it not be better to use a pale coloured normal vinyl ?

Hi There,

If you print onto the white you will only be able to stick it to the outside of the window, you need to reverse print onto clear then back it up with white , then when you stick it on it looks the right way round from the outside.

Glad you haven't had any problems with 651 but 451 is not much more expensive and will stretch and shrink with the PVC banner once its applied properly. Its just a recommendation.

Shane is right most Cast manufacturers will colour match as little as 300m2 , £264 is a good price especially if you only have to buy 1 roll, the benefit of being self coloured is you will have no hassle with colour fade or affecting conformability and a lot less hassle i guess.

Stating the obvious here but heating after to KEEP in the recesses only works with cast vinyl , you are re-setting the vinyl by heating it up beyond whatever temperature it will reach during its working life thus stopping it from re-setting during hot weather.

Carrie -- you are spot on -- not rolling it only referred to Normal vinyl , banner vinyl is fine, we always recommend to keep it as flat as stress free as possible for 24 hours while the adhesive cures properly.

assuming you need a reasonable quantity in 1500 x 190 then most reasonable size screen printers will print 5 up on a 1040 x 1550 press, there are a few in Yorkshire that would do that no problem.

Best bet in the UK is Rennicks , they offer a trade service for this sort of thing , based in Runcorn 01928 579966 , they supply Nikalite reflective film from Nippon Carbide in China i think, if they cant supply kits in small quantities they will certainly put you intouch with one of their customers...

Have a customer who uses 450mic flexible soft pvc for this (self cling), he reverse prints, then laminates with a 3m adhesive. It might be worth looking at if the volume is there.

HI Guys and Gal, The reason nothing is sticking is that Rubber wellies are a low energy surface , this stops acids , oils, grime etc from attacking the rubber but also stops adhesive and ink from biting in aswell!! Hi Dex,

Dewi is right about the 2 year polyester , its cheap but not for an extended outside life check your members price list, a cast chrome 5 year film will be availbale soon at around £16.00lm , Metamark do a carbon fibre effect- no idea of price though.

Hi Guys, Europoint dont keep 620 it would be either 1620 or 1640 , we call it Oracal 100 as its a 100mic face film compared to Fascals 80mic , both are water based adhesives and will go milky when applied wet, to save with the numbers just ask for Oracal Wet Tack , same face film but with a solvent ...

HI Guys,

As you ask, all Orajet Vinyl 3164/3651/3551 and 3951 has grey re-positionable adhesive, it makes for easier working with large colour graphics, its a solvent adhesive.

You could print onto white self cling, while it will be re-usable to a point you would need to keep the release paper handy for putting the sticker back on to before re-applying elsewhere, bit of a pain!

Just remember when checking prices to compare the performance characteristics of the film 751 Premium Cal has for example min outside life B&W 8 years / Cols 7 Years / Mets 5 years is 60mic thick ( Very thin for callandered film ) Solvent acrylic adhesive ( Not emulsion acrylic) To name but a few

What Manchester sent you was probably Orajet 3451 which is Digital Print Banner Vinyl , they should also keep 700mm wide Banner Material 440gsm i know its kept in 1370mm wide.

HI Frank, Forget trying to print Contravision with an hp5500 , its a great machine but not for un-coated media , if you have someone friendly nearby with eco / full solvent best to get in touch with them , if your not sure get in touch and ill give you a couple of names. You are right Shane , its 3951 and stocked in the UK in sizes 760 / 1370 + (1520 in a couple weeks)for the Eco and Full solvent machines , orafol recommend 290f cast overlaminate to go with it and is stocked in the same widths.

Coburn have a distributer in Wales or they did not long ago , can buy by the metre , Metamark do Carbon effect and other strange things , Chalkboard vinyl etc.
Coburn will tell you if you ring them or e-mail. Ritrama do Prismatic film although not a vast range.
