thanks for your replies..
sounds like drilling out rivets is the ideal way..
i was thinking of self tapping screws as well.
the sign is too warped to vhb.needs new fascia.

what method do i use to fit vinyl stripes onto a mini?

Hi all..
I ve been asked to vinyl stripe a mini car bonnet. Customer has vinyls already supplied made to measure..just needs fitting...
although ive applied vinyl, using hinge methods etc, both wet and dry..
is their any tips from anyone on getting it done correctly..

yes i like what they are capable of.. i understand certain materials like crystal..you have to steer clear of, and the metals need coating if marking etc, but certainly acrylics are cut in no time at all..it's the ongoing costs as well im interested to know..such as how long the co2 tubes last etc a...

Thanks Peter..I d use a cast most likely..the design is stripes on the front, a couple on the side, and then just a basic font with company details...id probably need to invest in some higher steps..!!

Thanks for the replies yesterday.. yes it's a one off. No problems sticking, as John suggested it's to do the with actual curve of the bumper..I actually cut it straight, but would the curves of the vinyl be against the natural curveature of the bumper or in the same direction..( hope ive explained ...

Hi all.. My customer has sent me an eps file of a logo..which i thought would be ok to open..I use Vinyl master pro software..one wouldn't open(again) and the other just had loads of lines..is this because it's not a true vector file.and if so what is the bet way to convert it.. many thanks.. off to...

Hello again on the same subject.. it is advisable to cover the vinyl with application tape on windows that graphics will be 9ft x 2ft...im finding the vinyl is creasing in places if application tape does not lay totally flat...i have worked left to right on these windows before and slowily worked my...

thanks for replies.. customer wants it cream colour..with fairly basic graphics in black/yellow.. Depending how big your sign is..SMP (sign Makers products) can supply the whole thing to you..perspex/panatrim etc ready for you to vinyl..it may cost you a little more i suppose as a complete sign, but if it's a one off it might be worth a try..

it's basically a mirrored film for windows for privacy..Ive seen offices around with this sort of material..
mirror on one side so you can't see in but you can see out ok ..

yes that's what has happened..but also some areas of the vinyl have "patches" on them as well..so im a bit puzzled. I dont suppose there
is a problem fitting wet like this is there?

Hi Again It's 12' x 4'. Ive suggested to fix some frame to it just to give it a finished look. I suppose the more signs you fit the better you get and the more confident you become in fitting. im trying to compile a worksheet/reference sheet regarding fixngs and materials as a reminder of what i sho...

It's to be fitted into an existing wooden face which had a sign fixed into
but has now been removed..Looks like mdf about 15mm.
I want to fix the new sign back onto the wooden board again..
no rotting present.

how do i fix di-bond to facia without a frame?

Like most signmakers i too have a dibond sign to fix to a facia without a frame.(customer request). The facia is sound no rotting etc..may sound a daft question but what is the best type of fixing and what size/length..is their also a posting on the boards for "fixings" of various jobs..oh...

hello All I have a quote to do for a 32ft x 2.5ft (approx) facia . Existing frame doesn't look too bad..with perpsex coloured panel and graphics.. if I decide to replace the frame or at least price for it..are there any recommendations on joining such a sign together or more butting the panatrim end...

Hi All
i have been asked to quote/ to make a external vandall proof display case
outside a youth club..sizes around 4ft x 4ft..has anyone made such things
or can you buy them to measure..needs to be flame retardent, vandall proof and lockable..( not asking for much am i !)..

Customer is taking the ownership themselves for the panels and they are
going to clean them up! If they look ok we have agreed to vinyl them..
if not it's new panels..

The exisitng panel is intact but old and dirty and the vinyl has faded..
a new sign facia would sprouce it up a bit, but if i did clean it up any ideas
what chemical to use to clean it. also...
Any ideas on cost..it's about 1ft wide and 18ft long (odd size)

At least im armed with some price guidence..Apparently he's come via a recommendation which is nice, but like you have all said..Ill stick to my guns (:) and quote a decent price for a decent job..im still a bit uncertain if to use polymeric or order cast to be safe..although i know cast is more exp...
