In the book Ralph Gregory's Sign Painting Techniques he suggests that "shading to the left and bottom gives maximum impact to display that is viewed from the right" and that "shading to the right and bottom gives maximum impact to display that is viewed from the left". He also mentions that proper a...

Hey Bob! Welcome to the UK! Seems like I've run across you in other parts of the web. For anyone in the UK, ask Bob about Von Dutch... he's got the info. Great to see you here!

Gray:

I mentioned the "box" idea because I'm lazy. It's much quicker for me to simply make the "box" x by y and then size the picture to the box. THERE ARE dimensioning tools and they are good. You could accomplish this either way.

Nice hood. Now I have to ask... and remember that I'm way over here on the other side of the pond. SAUSAGE? OK, I can live with that. Is that really a common term or one coined by a select few? I guess I would have called it a panel.

You folks will have to clue me into the language here! :D

Gray, In response to your question, YES, you can import a picture and lay your work over the picture. I use a digital camera (an old, out of date, low resolution - but it works fine camera) to take pictures of buildings, existing signs, vehicles, you name it. Let's say we're doing a vehicle. I take ...

I've been using VMP for a couple of years now. Great program with great tech support from Shaun Morrell. Have any questions, ask and he will answer. They've just released the new version... I'm still on 2.5b. If you can't make a bunch of money using VMP, you might as well get into a new line of work...

What a great sign! That background is really nice. The "Grain Frame" is made in Delavan, Wisconsin... just down the road (45 miles). I've heard of a lot of other blasters that have tried to create one, but I also hear that the home made versions don't work or hold up as well. The other thing is that...

Things are fine in Wisconsin

Hey, thanks for the greetings. It's Tuesday and things on this side of the world look good today. I threw a sign on a wall yesterday and will actually collect a fee today so things must be good. Now all I have to do is track down all of those OTHER folks that I need to collect from. Today is the fir...

Another Hello

Hello UK! Just thought I'd step out and say hello here. Looks like an interesting site. I'm trying to figure out the navigation thing here... OH Yeah, I'm supposed to drive on the OTHER side of the road! Whoops!
