how do I paint lettering onto windows?

Hi, looking for some advice. Been asked to produce some painted lettering on a shop front window. I've got to copy another signwriter's work as done on other shops. He used vinyl as a template/stencil and painted in the spaces. Cheating I know! Now I have to replicate this in the same colours as pre...

Thanks for all your help everyone.

Finally got it sorted. Apparently Europoint don't stock colours, but can order them in...mine's coming next day.

I think they were best for price and delivery too.

Cheers.

Thanks Martin. I tried them but they charge double that of Europoint,as do Hexis and for less than half the roll size!

Getting them made up by banner companies runs into the £200's.

Puts you off a bit when I've just paid £80 for white.

Better keep searching I suppose...

Banner on a roll / Bananabanner / Lucky banner

Hi all. Does anyone know where I can find rolls of Banana banners, or banners on a roll? I know Europoint Display sell the white ones, but not the colours. The website http://www.bananabanner.net doesn't list any UK suppliers (awaiting a response from them) , but I wondered if anyone still uses them...

Hi Mickey. You need to email the makers (East sign if memory serves) and ask them for the relevant driver for Flexi. You then unzip it in the correct folder to get it working. Instructions are in the zipped folder. If you get stuck let me know and I'll dig it out and email it to you. I would bin the...

Hanging pub sign tips & advice please

Hi, I've been asked to replace a hanging pub sign, and thought I'd ask for some tips before quoting. Can anyone suggest a material (or a supplier of blanks-perhaps a double sided fibreglass type sign) that I can use? If I have a square board with an arc how would this be cut? I'd be doing it in viny...

Hi Boab, I have just bought one of the Dingtec 4' cutters, but since I've never really used a cutter before I've nothing to compare it to. The price was cracking, the manual difficult, but it comes with it's own stand (one morning to assemble). Artcut is rubbish. I can say that I had a minor issue w...

Advice on an entry level cutter / printer

Hi all, Can anyone advise me on which make/model would be best please? I'm a ticketwriter looking to move into vinyl signs, and although I was looking at a vinyl cutter only, a problem over the weekend made me think again. I have realised that I'd need a machine capable of printing posters as well. ...

Thanks for that. I already have my own business, the cutter will supplement my income...so I'm not going into this blind. The pricing aspect is something I'm keen to find out from others, as I know companies that merely mark up items by a %age. The 5x rule is a good and simple one I have to admit. I...

Ten squillion newbie questions...

...And here is the first! Buying a cutter, need to know how to use it and learn techniques! Are there any books or similar I can look up? ...And the second! Terry's is the way I'd make them. MDF is smooth to both paint and write on. Make sure all the board is sealed (back and front) with the paint (use the external blackbard paint if it's to be used outdoors). Mini rollers give an even finish, and a couple of coats hide any streaks or patches. I bought ...

I am new to the vinyl word and cutters (so new that i don't even have one yet!), but I've been looking around and I'm 90% certain to buy a Secabo 24" machine -mostly due to price and features. I first found out about these machines on ebay, and ...
