Looking at wrapping a boat

Hi there,

My friend has asked me wrap his boat, not something I have much knowledge about tbh but I'd like to help him out if I can.

I'm going out to look at it in the next few days and just wondered if anyone has any advice on vinyl types and the do's and don'ts when it comes to wrapping these.

Opinions on the Eco Sol Max 3

Hi,

I have a new printer arriving next week running on the Sol Max 3 inks. To be honest I haven't heard much good said about the max 3. Just wondering how many people are currently running on them and/or have you converted back to Max 2 or 3rd party inks?

thanks in advance

James

Applying microdot vinyl to a curved rear window

Hi there, I have a job coming up to fit a print on the microdot media to the rear window of a corsa van. My worry is that the curvature of the window is quite extreme and I't's going to end up in a bit of a mess. Are there any tricks to use when applying to a curved window or do I need to switch up ...

Grenadier Ink Status

When I purchased my Grenadier a few years ago it was running on some really cheap bulk ink set up and was in quite a poor condition. Recently I had an engineer over who gave it a good MOT, we flushed the system replaced heads etc. wiper blades etc. etc. It now runs on Granthams ink cartridges. My qu...

Re: New Business, New Customers?

Hi Sean, When I started out I had some business cards printed up and went on foot down the high street door to door. I would say for every 5 shops I entered I would get some kind of business from one. I secured one of my best clients this way and he still uses me on a regular basis. The second thing...

Hi Steff Are you printing onto vinyl? Would it be an option to send some artwork to one of us to print onto vinyl? The colours might not come out right but at least you'd have a reference to work from. Steve Thanks for your reply Stephen, I only want to print onto vinyl at the moment. It would be a...

Hi James,

Not really. I did mean the type Chris suggested to clear areas quickly from dust and dirt before applying vinyl etc. I can see how the item you've listed could be useful though. Thanks for replying

Air Compressors to minimize dust & dirt

I've noticed a couple of sign businesses using air compressors to keep areas dust free and wondered if this is common place in the sign market?

Have been looking around for sometime for a decent one but the only thing putting me off is the noise. Can anyone recommend a decent one?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying Lee.

The original Jpeg did have an underscore in it so renamed it but that didn't sort it. In the end I saved it in a different format which did the trick.

Cheers again.

I don't get this error message much when trying to add a job to the queue on versa works but it does pop up occasionally. Can anyone shed some light onto why this happens?

Re: premises, other half problems, and growth advice

Hi Mark, I'd go for it and not let people talk you out of it. If you base yourself on the outskirts rather than the centre of a town you can usually find smaller trading estates that will accept monthly payments rather than tying you into long leases. Also If the premises isn't too big you can usual...

Looking for a printable paper/media that is waterproof

Hey up,

I'm looking for a printable type of paper/media for use with a solvent printer that can be used as a-board poster/inserts and not get soggy.

I usually tackle this by printing on vinyl and applying to 1mm foam board but thinking there must be an easier solution to this?!

I tend to look for a level line on the van and measure up/down from that line. Sometimes that's not always possible so I use my eye. I can pretty much do it by eye now, it's the same with anything I guess, the more you do the easier it gets!

Hi Daniel,

I have a different roland machine but the settings I use everyday are:

Cut pass : 1
Speed : 30
Pressure : 130 - 150
Offset 0.250

As your machines a different model I'd do a few test cuts at a much lower pressure until you find the right setting.

VS 640 Vs. RF 640 - advice needed, please?

Hello peoples,

I'm looking to purchase a new Roland printer but am a bit torn between the VS 640 + RF 640.

I already have the ability to cut so the price of the RF is very appealing, however it would be nice to have print and cut in one machine.

Any thoughts would be greatly appriciated. :D
