Hi Mike,

I would imagine this occurs if there are lines in the original that have stroke width settings applied. This would be treated as 2 lines, an outer and an inner and would be read as such by the plotter. The way around it obviously is merely to get rid of the one unwanted stroke path.

Heat is a killer for application! Good thing it is not a major ongoing factor then for us in Jolly England, rather a freak of the weather!! When I worked in Africa we had an aircon storage unit for the vinyl to keep it nice and chilled. Worked a treat!

I generally open the files from that site in Illustrator and get rid of unnecessary data that is usually there, such as the clear frame panel that is always evident. From that point I start work in other programs. Try that as an alternative route, I am sure it will work....

Have you tried different flash settings, or is your cam not able to be adjusted such? I find that with a slower flash setting I can get most of the night shots I need when artificial light is present. It would work fine for the example you posted.

The only advice I would then give is to drop the word "and" and replace it with "&" to be able to offer you a little bigger cap height. Other than that I think it is fine. Nice and simple and clean.

Definitely a break away from what you were doing before it sounds like. I am self taught too, but then persued the interest and qualified in my field. Something about signs I guess, just appeals....
