does anyone know a stockist of holographic mixed vinyl?

I have found a supplier in USA that deals in Holographic, carbon fiber , mixed colour vinyls, as used on Stock Cars etc, 6 to 12 month outdoor use. Does anyone know of a UK distributor , as i cannot buy in bulk from America at the moment ?

I think the stuff you are referring to is made by R Tape, the application tape people. Might be worth asking your R Tape resllers if they import it.

Oracal Qld import it in to australia, great stuff.

you want to buy from coburn, based in the states and offer the best price all round for this stype of stuff, they are one of the biggest in the world that specilise in these sort of films.
i know they have a european outlet & they did upto not long ago have a uk rep, not sure if they still do now though sorry. im sure if you call them direct they will tell you.

http://www.coburn.com/product_lines.htm

their sites not upto much, but ask for a sample pack etc. ive never seen so many fancy films. glow in dark glitter films, flourescent foils/prismatics and much more.

R Tape does distrubute Coburn specialty products,

www.rtape.com

But I have never heard anything good said about this product and am leery of trying it.
Most outdoor durability is limited, according to my color chart.

I got a nice sample of the new Oracal 383 cast mirror leaf, which had a slightly holographic tone, at a trade show. It was real pretty and cut & weeded well.

Avery also makes a LOT of fancy patterns, from woodgrain to camoflauge and everything in between. I think they do carbon fiber, and I know they make a marble. They also have shade-shifter. But now I am afraid to buy it due to adhesive problems with a particular batch.

2 USA suppliers that I buy from are listed, dunno if they ship overseas tho.

Jill, used a bit of the coburn stuff. pretty good actually.

Get a good reaction from the clients, but then most of the uses I have done are only to last a year or 2 anyway.

Most of these types of films are short term anyway. At least the coburn stuff weeds well. Seen some printing on the stuff - fantastic. Gives it an extra dimension.

We used to make a 'carbon fibre' vinyl. Very long life. It looked absolutely brillo with doming resin poured on top. I did actually print some on the edge once and it was a very good copy. That's all really. :-?

...you're probably right about that Rob, but I think there are a few other suppliers of general "speciality" films too. You could try either www.hexis.co.uk or www.metamark.co.uk - they both do a range of various ones.

Nigel, your right mate... a good few companies do offer this sorta product. but because its so specialized i think the market is very small...
creating a few reps offering same products but not as cheap.

OK, I'm being negative here.. simple truth is i called around all main suppliers for these vinyls. none done it!
any that did were sky high,,, and those that did bought from coburn...
buying direct from the "then" rep... saved me about £2 a metre.

we needed hundreds of metres :-?

Coburn have a distributer in Wales or they did not long ago , can buy by the metre , Metamark do Carbon effect and other strange things , Chalkboard vinyl etc.
Coburn will tell you if you ring them or e-mail. Ritrama do Prismatic film although not a vast range.

Probably Rob, but over here we do not have direct access to Coburn, only thru their importers, one of whch is Australian Sign Supplies.

I posted the aussie link for your aussie members.

Cheers
