I swear this is true

Had a call this morning from a fella called Malcolm who is the dealer principal (pretentious name for sales manager) of the local Land Rover dealership:-
"Hi Steve its Malcolm from Parkside"

Me:- Hello mate how are you, what can I do for you today

"We need a set of magnetic signs for our new Defender parts van"

Me:- Ha Ha Ha Ha click! Bzzzzzzz!

Ring! Ring!

Me:- hello alpha grafix

"Its Malcolm what happened we got cut off"

Me:- I thought you were taking the p*ss Malc

" What about? I want some magnetic signs"

50 points for anyone that can tell me my next reply

I must admit - I would have just sold him the signs without even thinking about the fact they wouldn't stick to the metal of the Defender.

I bet the "Dealer principal" hadn't thought about it either, so you did him a favour by spotting his mistake.

Well spotted, You did him a favour - I hope he paid you a good price to provide vinyl lettering instead.

If I have read it correctly Paul yes it is a parts van but it is also a defender. I did some magnetics for a Limmo recently, 2.5mtrs long by 280mm deep. The guy also wanted one on the bonnet, good job we tried a bit of scrap magnetic first because the bonnet on a Limmo is aluminium to.

Apologies to all - suppose it just shows how much there is to know - mind you if it had been a Reliant Robin I probably would have latched on sooner!

Sorry Paul mate, yeah the defenders skin is mostly ally as are most Land Rovers these days but the guy that wanted the magnetics has been selling these things for 15 years he should have known better, so what did i do? I made him a set took them round and watched as he tried to fit them then could,nt understand why the kept falling on the floor :P :P :P
Hee Hee I'll get more mileage out of taking the p*ss than the £50 I would have charged him for them :D :D Life's too short you gotta have a laugh!
