Am I missing a trick fitting reflective vinyl

Afternoon all

Just had a job go out with reflective vinyl, not done one for a while. Am I missing a trick fitting this type of media?

I'm talking Oracal 5400

If I get a bubble, It's hard to get out, If I pull it off, you see adhesive lines, If you use water, you get fingers that you can't get rid of.

I use it all the time, its a pain, One chance film, there is a 5600 air release version but its expensive.

I use 5400 and 5600 all the time for printing and graphics. occasional bubbles don't worry me to be fair, if they're big just use a very sharp pricking tool and push them out, better still just get a heat gun on after pricking, the air expands and escapes on it's own pretty much!

Not the easiest stuff in the world I guess, just ensure good squeegee action and don't lift after it's down.

I know it increases the cost of an already expensive material but you can always laminate it onto a piece of say Oracal 3651 rapid air. Al. A lot less aggressive adhesive and rapid air to prevent the bubbles ;-)

3M does a reflective range with air release. I just used some on a job, its really easy to fit and quite conformable too.

If that’s the 780mc reflective wrap, it’s horrifically expensive, about £900 a half kit!!

Unless they now do a regular reflective with air release?!

Dunno it didnt seem particularly expensive.
It was not the printing one I have seen you using on Facebook Hugh. I got the red and the green one. Cant recall the code.

No, it's a custom job with large side panels.

Air release would be a big advantage here but not at a silly price.

I'm not aware of that one then. I've often said they should just put a regular or air release adhesive on instead of something that'd pull yer face off if you wrapper yer bonce!
