UV laminate for fluorescent yellow vinyl

Does anyone know of a laminate available that will offer UV protection.
My customer wants hand rails and steps fluorescent yellow on excavators and I want to try and get some more life out of fluorescent vinyl.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Don’t think a laminate will offer much in the way of extending the colour of fluorescent material to be honest, the 3M diamond grade stuff is a 10 year product so I’m led to believe

Thanks Kevin, I don't think that the diamond grade will do as I have have to wrap around grab handles and it would be too thick. looks like I will have to use 2-3 year Oracle.
Cheers Peter

Re: UV laminate for fluorescent yellow vinyl

Oracal does a really nice gloss fluorescent which has extended life, from memory. check as I think they do two life expectancies of their fluorescent film.

if you really wanted to extend the life a bit more, you can get clear laminates that have UV filters/absorbers which will help with fading and the extra coating on the vinyl can only help with abrasion damage.

We do lots of excavators and plant machinery and they take a hell of a pounding from muck, chemicals and abrasion.
I would give them a price with a regular fluorescent and one with a quality brand laminated because these type of companies can be like car sales places, want the world for nothing, whereas others, money is no object and just want it done right!

i would be tempted to raise the H&S issues, on first thought good idea high vis, on second thought very slippery when wet care where you put it. in a claim the manufactures would be quick to say nothing to do with us guess the rest.
from experience lamination will extend the life but will they pay the extra ? the 3M flor yellow seams to last till the next paint job.

we have done the steps and rails before Chris, I am "guessing here" but i think Peter will be talking about the face lip of each step. the attached picture is kinda what they are trying to replicate on new machines that don't have this type of marking. though the ones we have done have had much more coverage on much bigger machines.

just raising the question in case the operator has not thought it through enough.
in the instance shown probably easy remove and paint to give that look.
done a fare few recovery trucks and surprising how long it can take doing those bits.
as a guide get in and out of the equipment yourself and you will soon find the bits that need marking

Re: UV laminate for fluorescent yellow vinyl

Thanks for all the replies, Robert is correct it would only be the face edges of the steps and handles etc. The client has tried removing and painting also powder coating and they are fading after a couple of months so we are trialing the cheaper and hopefully longer lasting vinyl route.
This for my biggest customer a leading machine manufacturer and I will be stripping all factory graphics then wrapping booms and applying graphics to 180 (yes 180) brand new excavators, dozers and wheel loaders so as you can imagine it has to be right.
