Is that the new one they’ve developed Hugh?
Went to a spandex day trialing a new wrap, was interesting stuff but nothing like we’re used to

We use 3m IJ180, but don't get a really good print out or Seiko on it.

Going to a William Smiths demo day tomorrow for the Arlon wrap film, they claim rivals 3m.

They had a very skillful Eastern European guy demonstrating the Arlon film at spandex.
Really opened my eyes about the wrapping process & claimed post heating to change the memory is a myth, it’s purely to give the adhesive the best possible chance to bond.
Feels weird to install but I’ve only fitted a metre or so, maybe I’ll give it a try soon

Is there a printable one available?
Used their color change which is really good, don’t think I’ve tried their digital version

Re: What printable wrap are you using ?

My car was wrapped in August with the Arlon SLX. So far performance is good.
I had a a car paintwork done last week.
The had to remove door graphics to blend colour. Graphics where removed in 3 minutes. (whole door)
If Arlon SLX does what they say will do on a long term - I will never touch 3M again.

Important for me: 4500mm x 1520mm print installed on my own with ease.
The "glide" feature is also very good. When adhesive touch each other doesn't get stuck as other brands.
I like it.
It is a pleasure to work with.

What sort of bundle costs are involved with all these brands?
We get pretty reasonable rates for the 3M (according to our rep anyway, but they all say that) but not pressed for any comparisons recently, I pay around £840 for a 50mtr bundle of ij180 so not sure if there’s a big saving or not?

Avery printable bundle is 1100 euros. Around 950.00 pounds.

Seems expensive. I will now look into arlan to see about their prices as everyone is shouting about it

Kevin
I thought 3M vinyl rolls were 50 yards, ( 45 meters.)

Re: What printable wrap are you using ?

You may be right Simon, I remember a conversation with another rep a few years ago that said the same. I ask for ij180, they ask 25 or 50 meters. I’ll double check as it’s a good point.

Hmm curious. William Smith says they sell them in 50 meter rolls on their website.
they certainly sell it in 50 yard rolls here in New Zealand, and in the USA.
My bad.

Just checked, they say meters not yards. I think an eu directive pushed suppliers into metric some time ago.

Re: What printable wrap are you using ?

We wrapped a couple of vans with Avery MPI 1105 EA RS recently, first time we'd used it and it's an absolute dream to work with. It's expensive but after using it I feel it was worth every penny.

I was concerned because of some of the areas of print were solid colours but they looked fantastic compared to other films I've tried with solid colours printed on.

Hi Simon

3M and Avery supply 95% of their print materials in 50m for Europe and most of these materials are manufactured in Germany or Holland now. They both have been moving more of their ranges over to the "European" standard of 50m roll length. However there are still a number of products such as reflective, crystals etc that are still supplied @ 50yd/45.7m lengths. I understand all of their products are still 50yd in US market and Asia etc.

Arlon only supply 45.7m rolls whether in US or Europe as all products manufactured in US
