Magnetic Sheeting - What is the biggest size you've done in one piece?

Good evening,

Magnetic Sheeting - What is the biggest size you've done in one piece?

Any issues, anything to be aware of?

I'm doing 4 off, 1500mm x 510mm.

How do I cover my self if they lose it on the motorway? (has this happen to you / your clients?)

Never done anything that big.
But I make it very clear to the customer. Although it’s a good product and if it has to come off and on all the time then it’s the only product they can use, but make sure it is firmly down, no lifts anywhere, as it will be traveling at 70mph which means a 70mph wind, and I struggle to keep my feet attached to the ground in that.

If it just cos it might be cheaper and it’s easier to take it off when they sell the vehicle I push them to a high quality vinyl and promise it’s easier to remove then cheap vinyl they have most likely had before

Biggest single piece - 650mm x 1870mm(ish) for van panel.
Still going around 3 years later, and have been told by the driver, that it stays on at over 90mph......

We had the owner a info sheet with all magnets - how to clean (remove and clean), storage when not in use etc, but never anything about liablity.

I've done some uo to 2.5m x 850 on the side of a mwb Crafter (I think it was) van, had to order in a 15m roll of 1230 mag sheet, I couldn't even lift it!!!

that aside, just be sure they're notrunningthe mag over door shuts or seams as any air at all underneath will lift it of at speed. Sounds obvious I know, but you'd be surprised how may people get mifed when I tell them that on their vivaro it has to be split by the seam!!

I also agre with Chris, 95% of the time I try and push them to vinyl, they seem to think mags will be cheaper... not really as you've still got labout to apply them and cut the bag sheet.. labour they may as well spend on a proper job!

I would never go bigger than about 3' x 2', because it needs to be removed every fortnight or so for cleaning then it becomes hard work, so they do this for the first few times then don't bother, then a year later you get a call saying it's stuck solid and won't come off.
Not sure where you stand if it flies off on a motorway and wraps itself round a following motorbike, I would hope the driver would be liable but the way things are now with this blame culture we've adopted I would be inclined to get a disclaimer worded by a professional.

You must give them something in writing, download a free disclaimer template from google and tweak it.
sounds a pain but at least you will have one for future on anything else you may need it for.

you do not have to give something all very legal looking that you will lose a sale. just state that the user is responsible for proper positioning on the vehicle, proper storing flat it when not on the vehicle, cleaning the panel before application etc.

however, the panel should NOT cross door joins, bumps in panels etc only perfectly flat areas or it WILL come off while in transit.

keep in mind, these things at that sort of size are not easy to position properly, never mind doing it alone.

I'm happy to report that client ordered van sign-writing as normal.

I agree with the above quoted. Magnets that size are heavy.

I tell my customers that there is no guarantee whatsoever against the material coming off at any speed. I have no control over how the material is applied or whether the care instructions are followed so i am not putting my neck on the line. I always try and get them to take vinyl over magnets
