Gold leaf flat cut logo required

Hi All

I have a customer looking for a small simple flat cut raised logo in a gold finish and wants it fairly traditional looking with gold leaf finish etc.

I've never done anything like this so not sure where to start so if you could recommend somebody who can help would be great.

Thanks

Warren

Re: Gold leaf flat cut logo required

Cut in composite and cover with Gold-leaf cast vinyl. has 10-12 year life.
It is genuine leaf film from memory... I am sure someone in the UK was selling this but could be wrong.

If you want to give it a go yourself, buy some gold size adhesive and leaf from Wrights of Lymm or Handover.

Alternatively, John Singh from here on UKSB could possibly do one of these for you no problem, as could many others here i bet.

Thanks so far, customer wants it fairly traditional so don't think vinyl will suffice, they are imagining a thickish (10mm) logo that looks like gold, probably slightly rounded edges.

If we made it out of 10mm pvc and rounded the edges would real gold leaf stick to it?

Re: Gold leaf flat cut logo required

Warren, There would be no problem with applying leaf to small stuff like that with a tight radius on the edges. I think that you will need to coat the PVC with something to which the gold size will adhere, I think I would go for an aerosol paint car paint, I always used yellow. The entire surface needs to be really smooth because the leaf is so thin it'll show any imperfections.
Best wait for John Singh to post and answer he'll know best.
