What adhesive to use for Corian/Solid Surface

Hi Folks,

I need to find a glue to use to permanently stick Corian to Corian (on the flat) or other solid surface brands, for use outdoor. I've found a few on the net but just wondered if anybody here has been using an adhesive they could recommend.

There are specialised glues for this but they need special application guns which aren't cheap. I only need this for a single job so I thought there might be one of those 2 pack/self dispensing jobbies out there that would do just as well.

Cheers,
Neil

Hi Neil,

We do a lot of this and unfortunately the recommended bonding and guns are he best way to go. The gun will only set you back about £45 so it's not bad in the grand scheme of things but they are very solid so you don't feel completely ripped off.

The key thing to remember is that the manufacturer recommended stuff is coloured so you can lump it in the sand it down for a literally invisible seam.

Thanks David,

Yes that's the way we're going. I just hoped there would be a quick one tube alternative.

Cheers,

try speaking with Eurobond they do 2 pack & single pack glues sure they may be able to help. I have had 2 pack adhesives (chemfix) in a single cartridge that goes in a normal gun.

Thanks Kev - will check with them.

There's a bewildering range of brands and types out there all claiming to be used for Corian. I tried one last week and it was rubbish - pulled apart leaving a clean separation.

What about hot gun glues. Any of these worth considering?

What about tiger seal?

I've used it before to bond stainless steel to granite...still there nearly 20 years later.

are you keying it up or using a primer cleaner etc, hot glue again depends on the bond it can make to the surface. Like Dave said a construction adhesive will probably bond it, I always use Bostik Simson Isr70-08 & primer/cleaner called Prep M

Yes, I'd always key and clean - normally with meths or sprit wipe etc. Seems like it would cost more to test all these different types than the cost of the gun for the corian specific one, so as David advises, this is the way we'll go.

Many thanks for all the recommendations though,
Neil
