Nik

I might be wrong here but I suspect Flexi sign uses the built in drivers in its own program not external ones like your download.

You may have downloaded the right driver and if you were cutting/printing from say Corel Draw it may work that way.

I have the new version of Flexi Sign and it has its own built in driver for the PC60

This is only a thought

Hi Nik
its a little different to Signlab
you'll have to set the driver through production manager, as you have a PC60 you'll have to select the PC60 then use radio button for hybrid device. You'll have to enable your pallete to your ribbons, now I don't know if 600 ribbons are the same as 60 ribbons, but once you load the pallete and save it you'll have all your spot colours there. I also load the CMYK pallette too, so you have a wide range of colours available to print.

Also the enable colour mixer box to appear on your desktop / workspace, this will enable % amounts in CMYK to for your ribbons to print.

You'll need Design central on the workspace too as this is where your signblank size etc is adjusted, When you print from the 60, you'll have to click the rip and print button, here you'll get production manager, to contour-cut your print you'll have to use transform, contour, adjust the contour you need and click the tick, when in production manager and advanced tick print spot colours, contour to make sure its got a contour cut, send.Any problems give me a PM and I'll do my best to help

This software is so advanced with settings for printing its unbelievable
but again its a little quirky at getting used to how it works
Quick guide to printing with Flexi over.

Cheers!

Did it work OK with Signlab?

I never had much luck printing from signlab, also check the LPT port to the Roland is set to non-directional in the BIOS.

Another daft question but these machines seem to sit in stand-by mode until room temp has warmed up, the machine is in a warm (ish) room

Cheers

Is it "beeping" after it is switched on and initialised?

Have you installed the cartidges correctly?

Make sure it is plugged into the LPT1 port - and that no other program (such as a scanner or printer) is using the port.

When you clamp the rollers to the vinyl and friction rollers the print head does initialize move across, measure the vinyl and then sit there to the right awaiting instructions from your PC?

if those two lights are flashing then the vinyl is not loaded correctly the pinch rollers are out of bounds

Do you have a sheet cut tool on it? If so could the blade be jammed in the down position?

Probably not but Im sure you are open to any suggestions right now :D

When you say all the lights are flashing do you mean the cartridge lights as well?

Let me have your email addy, and I'll send down the instructions to reinitialise the PC60. Don't want to upset Roland by printing their secrets on line

Did you happen to have an electrical outage since you last used the machine? I did and it wiped out the eprom, had to reinstall the firmware then reinitialise the machine.

I've got one other secret up my sleeve but just want to double check it does what it says on the box before sharing with all you other PC60 owners.

Nik - here's a possibility!

Check and make sure the machine isn't looking for a catridge colour that isn't there. I have a red colour cartridge with a barcode that is slightly curled. Everytime I go to print a red spot colour the machine beeps at me as it thinks the cartridge isn't there. I have to take out the cartridge and press the barcode back down properly before the machine recognises it and continue on. Could it be something similar? i.e a missng colour.

(This only happens when you go to print something - if the beeping is happening when you first switch on (which is what I understand to be happening) then this isn't your problem - but I thought I would mention it anyway in case I had misunderstood).

Following on from what I have just said - make sure your software isn't trying to print a spot colour that isn't loaded. Do this by ensuring all the spot colour options are un- ticked and try a test print in CMY mode only (making sure of course that Cyan Magenta and Yellow cartidges are correctly iinstalled and that their bar codes are correct and can be read by the machine - if using aftermarket ribbons make sure you have the right bar code fitted to the cartidge for the colours you are printing).

hi nik
it's like it's jammed!! the head won't move to the left sounds the same noise when i jam my vynil in my other roland cutter!! i'm lost!!

with the machine switched off can you move the head side to side ?
the roll & piece lights flash when it is unable to setup because of a pinch roller out of bounds the machine will do nothing in this state whot ever you send it from whot ever driver
