For £1000 I would expect you to get a pretty serious machine that could run Signlab and Corel very easily. Corel now runs very well 64 bit and most machines will be that anyway, it also supports multi core processors better - quad core is good and a processor of i5 upwards, Most new machines of that budget would have large hard disks and loads of RAM, basically bigger the better. Again video cards on that type of machine would be more than adequate and if the budget allows add a second screen, once you've worked with 2 screens you'll never go back but make sure the screen is good quality for accurate colour, I've heard good reports on the higher end Dell and Apple screens. New computers will be Win8 - can't say it impresses me that much but I am used to Win 7 and Win 8 just looks different.

You NEED two screens. Much better than one big screen.

I have Flexisign open on one screen, and web browser or Photoshop/llustrator on the other.

Agreed. Although I use 3 screens

I find it really strange operating with a single screen now, regardless of the size.

I use four screens! :o One is a big television set back to display the jobs I have recently done, or so customers can see me making adjustments to their work.
