Question for the Liverpudlians?

In a word, what symbol says Liverpool to you?
I mean an old symbol, not the Beatles.
Doing a family reunion logo, the originators of the clan were married in 1866 at St. Nicholas Church. I have heard that this is known as The Sailor's Church.
The man was from Ireland, the woman was English.
Would like to incorporate some sort of icon, if at all possible.
Would like to get away from all the Irish type things the family has used in the past and take a different direction.
The only thing I can think of is the ornamentation on canal boats but that might not be simple enough.
Thanks.
I can only imagine the stuff Harry is going to post but I really am serious.
Love....Jill

Not a modern symbol.
That could pass for my hometown.
I like the bird but am scared of making it too copycat.
What about the ship weathervane on the church?
I was also thinking of those things with the belt and buckle.
But I can't remember what they are called to Google one!

Liver Bird is definitely a symbol of Liverpool but you might have to be careful how you use it if they are Evertonians

What about the Mersey Ferry?

These are definitely bigtime Catholics.
There will probably be a Mass held at the reunion, and afterwards the priest will have a beer and play cards with my elderly aunts.
