Signmaker from Wellingborough breaks World Record!

I have just this minute broken a World Record!

At 11.34pm on a Friday NIGHT a local Chinese takeaway rang me enquiring about a sign.

Again, 11.34PM.

F***ing f***ing f***!

That's better.

Thanks.

yeah but he was calling from china... back home seeing his family and didn't think about the time difference. he was just excited to have Won 1.2 billion
on a Chinese scratch card and wanted to totally re-vamp his shop with top notch signage.

I'm afraid its your loss Andy old boy... damn shame as you turn out some cracking stuff. never mind... we can both talk about it next year in the NEC Hilton over one of their £8 glasses of roses wine you enjoyed so much! :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

Theres a credit crunch mate, whit the hell you grumbling at!

The sign he wants is only £7.50.

But the mileage........ :D

My satnav doesn't do Beijing! Is it anywhere near Birmingham?

I broke my own record of spelling mistakes this week.
After not having had one in nearly 10 years, I had two in the same day.
One was not my fault!
But of course I have to fix both.

Dial-a-drink? What's that? I'm assuming it's a Scottish type thing.

Anyway, yes John...nice try.

:lol1: :lol1: :lol1: its basically like ordering food mate. you phone and they deliver alcohol to your door. our local place has been doing it for years.
thers allot of restrictions for the person running it and who is sold, but its more or less just lift the phone and the drinks dropped at your door like a chinese take-a-way. i dont know the hours of business but i know i have ordered drink at 4am and its still delivered. (yes i was having Friends round ) :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
anyway, the only draw back is you are pay MUCH more for the drink than you would ovr the counter, but its acceptable as you know your not going to call them unless you are already drinking and cant travel or its the middle of the night and all else is closed. :D

Yes, we get similar here Jill. Not quite so many different things with it though. We tend to share them as a starter. I like 'em. :D

Sorry Mate but I can top that.....

Mobile rang once at 1.30am - a Turkish kebab shop owner ringing to see if his stuff was ready - told him to F*** off!

Also had someone (existing customer who buys banners for her pub that's just down the road from my shop) ring me at 11.45pm and left a voicemail to the tune of "It's urgent that you ring me back tonight, whatever time, urgent urgent......"
In a panic, I thought my shop was burning down or something similar, and maybe she'd driven past and seen it (or some other similarly important reason to ring me at this hour).
Turns out her niece had made it through to the singing bit of the X-factor, and she wanted a banner doing for the next day.
She got the F*** off treatment as well, funnily enough! (:) (:)

Don't give my mobile number to customers anymore now :D

Cheers
Joe

you should have been polite joe, told her you will do it for free and make it big as possible. then stick your logo and number reapeated right along the bottom. done same with t-shorts for the bunch attending and so on.. there was a possibility for millions and millions of folk to see your advert. see, you just dont see the bigger picture mate. :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

I've had calls on Christmas day before way back when I worked from my mums house. The guy demanded I saw him the sameday. I told him he had something in common with Mary and Joseph, "What's that"? he asked. I replied with "They were told to **** off today as well!" :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

I have also had people ring me up at stupid times but i just leave it till a stupid time at night then ring them back just to see what they want but its not worth being nasty to people because one day you just might get a job out of it.

The problem I find is that these takeaway owners assume that everybody keeps the same working hours as they do. Bloody idiots.

Anyway, a la Larry David, the cutoff is 8pm. Anything after that may result in an extremely expensive sign.

Think you are right Andy, I use to do a lot of work for takeaways and it didn't seem to matter what nationality the owners were they all expected you to be working at silly times because they were.

Still at least I never use to go hungry :lol1: :lol1:

:lol1: reading this made me laugh. I got a call on monday afternoon from a bloke who HAD TO discuss an urgent sign before tuesday morning. I told him I was in a meeting and would call him back later. OK he said, make it at 7pm tonight because I'll be home and waiting for your call.

So, at 7pm on the dot I dial his number. He answers the phone, I introduce myself and he says... gee mate you've rung at an awkward time... I'm just sitting down to my tea.... I'm not really happy about it going cold just so you can talk business.... :o I was lost for words...

I said OK, we'll talk later.... I never rang back.

Reminded me when I was in the UK too. I got a call at 2am UK time from a guy who says... is that shane? I need some car magnets....

In my groggy voice I said.... would you mind ringing my office number and they'll help you with a price as I'm in the UK on business and its 2am!.

Oh right he says and hangs up.

30 seconds later he rings again and says.... mate, I forgot to get a price off you..

I said... buddy, I'm in the UK, ring my office and they'll discuss it with you. But as you've rung me again, you'll be looking at $120... OK?

Right he said and I hung up.

30 seconds later he rings me again. I well awake by this time. When I answer the phone he says... shane, thats a good price, are you at the office now, I'll come round and give you a deposit.

I couldn't believe it. I said MATE, I'm in England!. Ring my office and they can help you with the deposit.

Stupid thing is, when I eventually got home, my office had never seen him or heard of him....

...starting to think it may have been one of Phills practical jokes now :-?
