H&S & The Mumps

My daughters boyfriend was recently signed of work having contracted the Mumps.

Yesteday - being fit well and fully recovered from his illness he returned to work again only to be told that because his doctors line had not yet expired - technically he was still ill and because of Health & Safety they couldn't allow him to work and sent him home again.

It's not all madness though - his boss said if he could get a letter from his doctor to confirm that he was well again they would allow him to work.

Needless to say he took the day off - he was on full sickness pay anyway

My daughter had the same when she broke her wrist last winter.

She was quite happy to go to work and do what she could with one hand, but her employers wouldn't let her. Apparently, for anyone who is signed off, the employer's liability insurance is invalid.
