You are none the wiser as there is no real answer to your question.

Ring all the Roland dealers to get a price & buy one from the one that you feel would give you the best support/price balance. That's what I would do anyway. You probably won't find huge price difference between them. Another option is buy a machine from the dealer that is closest to you. That way you can go bang on their door if you have problems.

Or get one from the States, and pay a huge amount to have it shipped. Get a bill from the customs that you will have to pay before it's delivered. Then hope everything works ok. Have you looked into U.S. prices? again wouldn't have thought things were much cheaper over there.

Thanks for that Brian, i think you are spot on = ) I did see someone saying they could pick up a VP540 for $18,500 so about £9000 in the current climate =). But yes UK probably best for after sales service.

Having recently been in the market for said printer (went for a Cadet in the end), do as suggested. Phone ALL the dealers you can find, ask about new & used machines.

Nearly all the dealers will knock 'substantial' amounts off the RRP if you are:

1. Serious about the purchase. ie. They can taste the sale already.
2. Play them as hard as they play you at the buyer/seller game.

But still, don't import. Not only will you have NO support from Roland, the threat of customs charges, the seller won't exactly be keeping 9-5 GMT hours if you need ANY help or a warranty claim.

Dave,

Again, thank you, very sound advice. You have helped me make my mind up. You have been very helpful indeed. Thanks again.

I don't think you will find any Roland supplier that will duck below the rrp, it's more of a case of what extra's can be given to give whichever supplier an edge over the others.

Make the calls as been suggested then just weigh up the pro's and cons of each offer.

Robert,

Your on the UKSG web-site , i cant see it but you should see a header with a link to the deals if you are a paid up member , alternatively give me a call and i will happily explain it to you , as long as you are a UKSG member of course, RL will need to verify.

Thanks Colin for spotting it.

I am sure we could be persuaded to keep the offer going if people are interested.
