Sublimation printed mugs - Dishwasher Proof?

Hello

Are sublimation printed mugs really really really dishwasher proof ?
As in constant use every day for coffee or tea breaks ?

I think the answer to that one is NO.

I have one that has reverted all the way back to white. :(

I have one mug which lived in the dishwasher for 18months. Dishwasher is a hot fill version, and the mug still looks as good as the day it went in there. I only use Listawood mugs and their inks, having lived through the Sawgrass clogging era and also the older non dishwasher proof coatings (which faded faster than fast thing). Things have definately improved over the last few years.

The mugs that I print are still going well. I only started a year ago, though.

Hi

The dishwasher resistance of sublimation mugs is a function of the durability of the coating used by the mug producer.

If the coating is not particularly durable, you will find that after a number of washes the mug fades, in some cases, very nearly back to white as you have already experienced.

The only truly dishwasher proof coating for sublimation in the world at the moment (as far as I am aware) is a product called Duraglaze - manufactured in the USA. Otherwise referred to quite often in the States as RN Coating.

Kind Regards

Alex
