Costings

I noticed that my prices are higher on the virtual customer project
I did powder coat and use perspex for the sign, but if costed on foam and standard panatrim it would still be £467.00 plus VAT so i thought i would bounce a pretty simple every day job off you folks, we are making 15 site boards on 5mm white foam (610mmx1220mm), two colours with logos (already on system no new artwork needed), Red and Black 751 oracal 610mm
Toatal Black used 6m and 17m of red / 23m of application tape
i am charging the customer £27.40 each plus VAT total of £411 plus vat
how does this compare...... my customer was happy

Hi Adrian...

right or wrong - good or bad - this iwhat came to mind as I read it and visualised the same:

1 off as per details given £85.00

15 off as per details given £37.50 each

...but...

I worked out the cost of materials used (using sensible everyday not-to-heavily-discounted prices) and it came to about £110. Using the quick rule-of-thumb equation I was told years ago by a wise old sign-sage - I multiplied the raw costs by 3.8 and it comes to £418 (this equation doesn't work for everything - you have to use ya' loaf!). With this in mind, the price you posted works out about right anyway...besides, I often work out a price and then add 'a bit more'! just to be sure

hope this helps...

more soon

Adrian & all,

Not that we're any authority on this, but here's my views:

We do a very regular order of 20 600x600 all in black with a small line / logo in blue, 3mm cheapie matt forex, 3 year vinyls & get £15 each for them. Not a bad mornings work for us (brings up the old question of who earns best out of what !!).

I think if I hadn't read your post & it was for an existing customer, I might have priced them similarly. Somebody off the street, maybe £35 each ?? Now I seem too expensive & everybody tells me I'm cheap (well I am but only Saturday nights after 11pm :-))

Pricing ....... pain in the butt eh!

I would have priced this at £38.46 + VAT each allowing a 40% reduction for the numbers.

As a "one off" I would have priced this at £64.10 + VAT

where I used to work, everything was priced by the sq. ft.
It can simplify pricing...these signs are approx 4x2 so thats 8sq. ft....@£4.50 per sq. ft =£36 each....I try not to give too much discount unless they want really big quantities, so your prices seem very reasonable, adrian. Just my tuppence worth.
cheers

For that quantity i would have priced them round about the £35 mark and I know I am cheap so I would think you need to up the price a little.
