About / History

UK Sign Group

Sign maker Robert Lambie founded UK SIGN GROUP in December 2001.

UKSG started life as an online buying consotrtium of around 20 independent sign businesses spread throughout the UK. The consortium was formed via an online business-to-business discussion forum. Today, UK Sign Group has around 350 buying group members.

uksignboards.com

Overnight the online forum evolved into Europe's largest sign related website, clocking traffic of up to 400,000 unique visits and 1,000,000 page views in a single month. The site was renamed www.uksignboards.com because the majority of its traffic was not only from outside its "Group" but also from around the world.

SignToolbar

2009, UKSG launched SignToolbar, the first ever web browser based application dedicated to the sign and print industry and powered by Google.

Sign Toolbar is currently installed on over 3000 computer Internet browsers.

isigntube.com

2011, saw the launch of a second website, a sister site to uksignboards.com.

This was the first ever video sharing website/community dedicated to the Sign, Print and Vehicle Wrap Industry. Relevant videos hosted on www.iSigntube.com are already seeing up to ten times more impressions of same, hosted on the global giant YouTube.

Signapp

2012 saw the launch of our mobile phone application Signapp.

Signapp is dedicated to the sign and print industry. The software download hosts an array of tools and features streamed in real-time via the web. Meaning its users are constantly up to date with industry news, discussions, videos and more.

Signapp is downloadable from Apple's iTunes Store and will be available via Android in 2014. Signapp is currently installed on over 4000 mobile handsets.

Staff Training & Accreditation

about

December 2012, UK Sign Group launched independent vinyl application and vehicle wrap staff training courses, as well as an accreditation award aimed at creating an elite network of the best vehicle wrappers in the UK - another 'first of its kind' for our industry.

What makes UKSG training so unique is that we came up with the idea of converting a 44ft articulated truck into a touring training unit. The truck travels from city to city, training companies all throughout the UK, whilst awarding only the very best with an AVWT accreditation - "Accredited Vinyl & Wrap Technician". We are creating the "Recognised Industry Standard". By raising the bar for vinyl applicators and vehicle wrappers.

To aid delivering the training, UKSG has partnered with Paperlinx, one of the worlds largest paper companies. Avery and Orafol vinyl manufacturers, two of the worlds leading brands, endorse it.

March 2014, UKSG announce its training and accreditation courses will be soon available throughout Europe and the USA.
