• Tiling a graphic ?

Posted by Robert Scullion on November 4, 2005 at 1:06 pm

I have asked this before but never got round to doing anything about it and have lost the details.

I want to put a sign up, approx 2440 x 1220 of a van outline with text saying something along the lines of “VEHICLE LETTERING” etc etc.

I only have a Roland camm 1 610 wide plotter, how do I create the outline in order to allow me to cut it in 4 sections, tiling, I have tried but to no avail. Using corel draw 9 or signlab 7.

    Thanks in advance

    Bob (?)

Does Signlab not have a tiling function?

not sure if this is of any use, but when i send my design from draw 12 to the plug in (winplot ver 7), and then tell it to cut, in the command box that cmes up have the option to ’tile’ and tell it the amount of overlap, whilst i’ve never needed to use the option, ‘ve always assumed that it will automatically create and overlap of the design.

Bob in signlab there is a tilling facility, shoulld be in the cut dialog box.
You will need to set the overlap for horizontal and vertical. (cut/tiling)
Also whe you go into cut/plot click tiling then drag the lines into position from the edge of the plot area. if you then click on a section a cross will appear, this is the section that will cut.
    hope this makes sense

Bob in Signlab, when you ask it to cut the whole job you get the cut toolbar appear, about fourth from the left should be a yellow circle with lines running through it, this is the tile tool. Click that and you can set the tiles to the size you want, remember to click each tile (gives you a red cross) you want to cut. Signlab then gives you a layout of how it will cut the tiles.

    Hope that helps
