Well for the past few days ive been sniffling and snotting, coughing and wheezing… feel crap. start back at work tomorrow and walking into our flooded reception area and offices. most of the ceiling is down after a burst pipe on the quick thaw we had with the snow over the break. lost phones, printers, computers and more… the real damage is all the wet and pulped plasterboard walls and ceiling. so that’s all getting tore down to replace. so looks like getting worse before it can get better.
we managed to get a local guy we know from our Insurance company who was on holiday too… but has now been out and told us we are covered and not to worry. but loss adjuster cant come in till the 7th, so everything has to stay as it is till they access the damage. then we need to Wait on builders etc going to be a terribly slow kick off to a very busy winter we have had. have a mountain f pending work to go out that couldnt be done due to the bad snow…

start how we mean to go on eh! 😕

That’s unlucky Rob, hope they pay up so you can get some new kit straight away. Things can only get better. :lol1:

Your insurance should also cover you for lost turnover caused by downtime- so every cloud has a solver lining 😀

Rob sorry to see the devastation, good that you were insured, but hope it doesnt cause to much damage to your firm, getting paid out for loss of turnover and equipment is one thing, compensating for loss of new or existing business, and the stress, is another thing,

A little bit of a compensating thought though, a lot more water damage in ozz.

Hope you are up and running asap,
    best wishes

Not a great start to the year Rob. We had a fire last year and, although there wasn’t much damage, it was a pain in the behind. Our insurance company were pretty good though. They authorised the repairs straight away and it was all fixed within a week. After all, if you’re claiming loss of earnings they want it fixed just as quick as you do!

I hope my earlier reply didn’t come across as flippant. I was merely trying to be positive about a bad situation. I hope you can get it sorted soon. 😀

I know the feeling when you walk into something like that, and the fact it’s insured doesn’t immediately help emotionally, although it makes it financially easier it’d have been far nicer if it hadn’t happened in the first place. Best to look at it as a massive re-vamp with the insurance helping to cover the cost, at least it’s something positive then. Not that I suppose for a second it needed a re-vamp, as we all know it never seems to work that way.

Not if you have a scamming insurance company like I had. I had a break in that lost me a whole weeks work. I thought I was insured as I had been for the last 10 years. When I claimed I was told they only covered "loss of profit" not "loss of turnover" two very different things.
I have anger in my blood for insurance companies who continuously rip me off. Only this morning I was sorting out problems from miss-information on my bike policy that ended up doubling my premium and another problem where the insurance companies have lost 4 years of my no claims bonus with the company van. Grrrrrrrr. (chat.)
Sorry but I digress from the post.
I hope everything is sorted quickly for you Rob.

good point mike, but that is standard cover,
the turnover is not a loss, that was never yours in the first place, just the profit, another point to mention though, and I dont want to sound like a spoilsport, but a lot of people dont reailse it, if you have something on finance, then the insurance covers the loss but it only pays out to cover the item, you can quite often still owe far more than you are paid out.

    just a thought
