• Roland??..

    Greetings,
I had my XC-540 in January this year. This is our first use of a roland printer, or lets say an epson head printer. We do have 4 HP5500 and we used to have a colorspan for ages, yet we have some other spectra heads outdoor printers,..
    Anyway,
Our new printer (XC-540) I dont know if all are the same or not, or if we can remove this option or not, keeps on cleaning and purge ink every couple of minutes, it doesnt print maybe more than 10cm and then its back to cleaning for 2 or three minutes!!..
Is this normal?? Can this option be minimized or stopped??.. How have people at roland calculated the time printed in an hour?? Or is the Japanese hour not as ours??
Its taking hours finishing a meter!! add to this the ink drained in the bottle!! i assume that half the ink is drained!! we have took a job of 200 sq meters and we have changed two sets of 12 440 carts and yet we havnt finished half of the printing!!??..
in all our printers, such job used to consume 6000ml of ink, but till now we are consuming 10560ml of ink!!??..
please help, advise or just let me know if i am into another type of printers which is not made for printing!!…

    Waiting your kind replys,

    Cheers,..

    Hi
i have the earlier Pro II SC545 & that allows you to turn Periodic Cleaning off, but can’t remember if its in the service menu or operator menu. Has it always cleaned like this only this seems excessive even for the Periodic Cleaning being switched on.

periodic clean will also tell it to clean during a print run, but it sounds as if you have a fault in the machine. Is it running the latest firmware & as it done this since it was installed, if so surely the engineer should have picked up on it when it was installed. There are a few members with your model machine they may have some more ideas

    kev,
might it be from the oem ink??..
as the original carts are chipped, i got chipped oem inks from jetbest which has good quality inks, but is the printer doing so cuz it has detected the oem inks??..
    PS: never intalled original inks!!..
PSS: newest firmware is installed with RIPC

    this is really awful!!

    thanks fellow,…

i’m presuming that you are using Roland inks because if the Roland thinks it as third party inks or has a dodgy chip it will continuously clean.

    Sorry
we posted the same time, solution i have been told on a VP Roland is to just use a black chip from a Roland cartridge and no other chips don’t know if it will be the same on yours. The problem would seem to point to the ink carts. Didn’t expect you would have non Roland inks in such a new machine.

this is a feature in the printer that recognises the non genuine ink.

some 3rd party ink manufacturers have found a way round it, obviously your ink supplier has not got a solution for it.

ask them for solution or change ink. Sorry.

    Have to ask !!

    damn roland ?

Not there fault surely , a new machine and using 3rd party inks already? Bit harsh on roland that eh?

I’ve heard of the machine repeatedly cleaning itself and it was down to non-genuine inks. In fact, I’m sure there was a similar post very recently. In their defense, I have a Roland and have absolutely no probs with it – gen inks though! 😉
