Lightfastness (?) of Mimaki prints onto canvas
Hi,
Just done my first test mimaki print onto a canvas like material (think it is called jettex) and pleased with the results.
Does anybody know whether there would be any future problems with fading though? Wouldn’t want to have to do re-prints every three years or so…
Is there anything that can be applied on top afterwards to give better protection/anti -UV?

you could use frog juice or grafijuice or even a specific giclee varnish such as the one dcp do but i forget its name.
i also know someone who uses watered down clear furniture varnish that is guaranteed non yellowing.

not sure if frog juice is uv resistant, I thought it was just a clear laminate?
Any way, solvent print onto canvas type material is a cheat anyway, you will never get the lasting qualities of oils onto true canvass,
I wouldn’t guarantee any colour durability for more than a year.
It really depends on the exposure it has to light. Kodak now offer lifetime durability on their printers, but, reading the small print, only if you use an album, and only show them occasionally.
I have "fine art" prints that I bought 20 years ago, and are now very faded.
