Hello People!
Just to introduce myself I've been in the print/signage industry since 1993
well that is up until March this year when the company that i was at unexpectedly went into administration.
I was involved with the design & production of Battenburg/chevron kits for the Police/Fire/Ambulance etc.
I'm not very familiar with the free standing/desktop varients of cutters as i used to run 3 high end machines Wilde TA41 (General signage), Zund P1200 (Reflective battenburg/Chevron kits) & Zund M800CV - Auto feed (kiss cut & die cut of printed jobs)

I'm still able to produce the artwork/designwork in FlexiExpert V7.5, but had no means of outputting.
As you can imagine over the years i've gained quite a selection of artwork files, so it'll be good to have access to the tech again.
I recently purchased an old Roland Camm1 - PNC 1200, that does require
a little attention.

Ok here goes ...thinking caps at the ready!

Main Problem :

When plotter is powered up with the inspection/guard flap closed - LCD Readout - Can't Find Limits-
Turn off power, open inspection guard/flap, Power up
-Now cutter menu is displayed & you're able to browse all menus.
Now close the inspection guard/ flap the cutting head will move approx 40mm - stop & Can't Find Limits will now be displayed on LCD.

Personally i assumed it was something like a faulty micro switch/sensor ( seem to recall a similar fault on one of the old works plotters)??

I need :

Connection Cable
Driver for my plotter
Manual if poss
( Can anyone point me in the right direction???)

With regards to connection method/ cable which is best? Is a special cable required or will a good quality printer cable ( ie. Belkin Gold Series Parallel - Centronics 36 connector plotter end/ DB25 connector Pc end suffice?

My Pc is running Xp & there is a LTP1 printer port & a Serial 9 pin connector to the rear.

This plotter is listed in the production manager profiles for Flexi 7.5

If i'm able to get sorted later on i may also need a pen holder & details of a reasonable local service engineer.

Then there's the small matter of where to purchase vinyls from (never had to worry about this before...always used off cuts!)

On that note i shall bid you all farewell
Thanks in advance
Take it easy
Jay

welcome

bog standard printer cable
no driver required as flexy should drive it
make sure that vinyl is loaded and the pinch rollers in the correct place and i think the error may go away.

plotter pens etc available from all the big suppliers

Hi Wayne!
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you....
Accuracy wise...Flexisign all the way .. You can do a lot of the same kinda stuff in Corel Draw ( currently running Corel X3), but seeing as i'm more used to Flexi that's what i use. Flexi is widely available, but not cheap, that being said once you've brought it you shouldn't need to upgrade. Pro or Expert are the best versions to go for as all of the functions & tools are included.
Best thing i can advise is ask on this site...i'm sure someone will be able to help you.
There are probably other cheaper alternatives that you could use but i have no experience really outside of Flexi.
The vehicle outline disks are fine for general signage & visual reference, they are not accurate enough when you're working to close tolerances (5-10mm in from body lines). The most accurate way is tracing the individual vehicles & digitising them.

If there's anything else you need to know just pm
Kind Regards
Jay
