The Hollywood sign that sits above the hills of Tinseltown was built in 1923. Erected by a group of estate agents, it cost £12,500 and was supposed to stay up for 18 months. It used to read Hollywoodland but the last four letters were removed in 1945. each letter is 30ft wide and 50ft tall.
